The almost entirely unchanged facade of London’s oldest umbrella shop! ☂️

James Smith and Sons was established in Soho in 1830 and moved to its current location on New Oxford Street in 1857. The shop and its facade is a beautiful Victorian time capsule and it is still a family-owned business.

The Palm Room at Spencer House, London

Hidden away in the heart of historic St James’s in London is Spencer House.

Spencer House was built as an aristocratic palace for the First Lord and Lady between 1756 and 1766. It is still admired as one of the most beautiful houses in London.

On 19th November 1990 the newly restored Spencer House was officially opened by Diana, Princess of Wales, a direct descendant of the First Lord and Lady Spencer.

The Palm Room is theatrical with gilded palm tree columns. A spectacular domed apse frames an eighteenth-century copy of the famous Medici Venus. French doors provide access to a private terrace overlooking the garden and Green Park.

Open to the public every Sunday and available for private hire.
