We were up in the mountains this weekend to deliver food parcels and warm clothes. We visited 2 villages. The roads are so narrow and dangerous. The 2nd village we had to ask the villagers to meet us as there is no road to get us there - so they came to us. Overall we distributed 89 food parcels for Ramadan between the two villages. With great thanks to Fountain of Mercy and Ihsan Foundation for their generous donations to make this possible. Warm clothes were also needed and we were able ourselves to donate 43 family packs between the 2 villages. Best wishes to everyone who supports us Ramadan Kareem Also as it’s Easter a very Happy Easter Monday . .....

On Wednesday & Thursday this week we travelled to some of the most remote areas in the mountains. The people there were badly affected by the earthquake – they had very little and they have even less now. Times are very hard for them but they always are welcoming and provided with food and of course tea. As mentioned, before it takes several hours to get there so we drove on Wednesday and distributed on Thursday.
We would like to give thanks to both Akhirah Nanu and make them smile plus other individuals who have helped us make this possible. We were able to distribute food parcels to every family in two villages for Ramadan. One of the villages is so remote and there isn’t a road just a path, we had to ask the villagers to come to collect their parcels – now that’s remote.
Please help us if you can. Got to our Gofundme page

We never let the grass grow under our feet or in fact terrible roads. We are off again to the remote villages near the earthquake epicentre to deliver Ramadan food parcels. What can you say about this road? It’s narrow, possibility of rockfalls and you’re literally so near the edge of the mountain side.Road isn’t going to stop us and as night is falling we almost there. The team will stay in one of the villages tonight and distribute the food parcels tomorrow. Watch out for our updatesIf you want to help us go to our Gofundme pageOr contact us directly on WhatsApp 07517662724. Many thanks to all the charities and so many others who are helping us I our quest and journey to help people in Morocco.
A Children’s Sports Day was held on Sunday 3 March in collaboration with the Federation des Associations de Developpment - Amizmiz and the local authorities in the Amizmiz area in the Atlas Mountains. Children were invited from all the nearby villages and so many, many children turned up for this event.
First, there was the 2 km Fun run. Over 176 children turned up for the race. We ran several legs for the race and in fact Rachid Afouzar ran the last leg with the children. As it’s in the mountains the first part of the race was up hill but as the children are used to this terrain, they ran up there like mountain goats. As usual we had a medals donated along with oranges and bananas. As well as the medals etc. the first 50 children (25 boys and 25 girls) received warm clothes (two-piece outfit).
Next was the football match. Again we had over 80 kids who wanted to take part. To say this was oversubscribed is an understatement. 20 boys were selected by the locals for the football match – 10 in each team. One of the teams wore the Nanu Sports Foundation t-shirts. Again each of these 20 boys received a set of warm clothes.
In was an incredible day and all the children had a great time and the adults had a good time too. Especially when you see the smiles and joy on the children’s faces.
After the event ended, we also distributed 13 family packs. A family pack has a man’s jellaba, robe for woman, child’s two piece and warm socks for the adults.
The Morocco Memories team then packed up and drove back to Marrakech very tired after the long day but the smiles on our faces said it all.
A VERY BIG THANKS to @NanuSportsFoundation, @theAkhirahTeam and Br Abid Hussain for their generous donations, without whom this day would not have been possible.
We hope to hold other events in the future

On Monday 26th we started our long journey with Makethemsmile to visit the villages near the epicentre of the earthquake. It’s a long tough road. It took about 7 to 8 hours each way. When we arrived we had a wonderful reception and greeting from the villagers. Both young and old came to welcome us. Hardly anyone visits them as it’s so far away, which is so sad as these are people who really need help. Thank God we are there for them through the help of donations from the UK. With the donations from MakethemSmile, we were able to distribute 90 food parcels for Ramadan to families in 3 villages. It was a hard road but everyone from MakethemSmile and Morocco Memories agreed it was so worth the effort to help where we could. Thanks once again to MakethemSmile for making this possibleIf you would like to donate please go to our Gofundme page at https://gofund.me/26a3e1bf. We are ready for our food parcel delivery tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will be going far into the Atlas Mountains, near the epicentre of the earthquake, to make deliveries.
It’s about a 7 hour drive to get there so we will need to leave early. So an early night is needed for our journey tomorrow.
Watch out for our next posts on our Ramadan distribution and the U.K. charities that are helping us.
Our previous post the other day talked about our recent visit up to the mountains delivering donations. Please see our video here.
For us it’s not just about giving donations where people could become reliant on these. It’s about helping people where we can so that they can become financially independent and give them back their dignity and reliance on themselves. So we help some individuals by giving some money to start a business. For example, bee hives in the mountains also making carpets and woollen Jellabiya. They can sell the goods themselves but often we buy the goods from them and we can distribute these to people who are in need.
It’s the old story do you give a fish or a fishing rod?
We are also now getting ready for our Ramadan distribution and more details will follow on this

Well what a few days it has been. We have been waiting for the roads to open and thanks to the local people the roads have been cleared and they are keen to see us for clothes distribution and food parcels. As soon we heard the roads were clear our team got ready yesterday and drove to the mountains. We spent time at two villages to provide aid for families of food parcels along with warm clothes. We are becoming very well known in the mountain areas and the locals give give us a very warm welcome. We still get calls regularly from villages asking for help. We try to provide as much as we can based on the resources we have. We would like to thank the Akhirah Team, Nanu Sports Foundation and the Ashworth family. Their generous donations have helped us once again to help families in need. Many thanks and God bless you all.If you can make a donation we would appreciate it, especially as Ramadan is just around the corner and we have many families who still need our help.
