Heartfelt greetings to everyone celebrating Eid Al Adha
May Allah’s blessings be today and always. Eid Mubarak
Best wishes for Eid and may God reward you abundantly both here and the hereafter
Spoke to villagers to review what they needed with Eid approaching and this also included the children.
One boy around 10 years old said he didn’t want anything, he just wanted his mum to have warm clothes!!
What a wonderful child! We were able to do that AND give him warm clothes too.
So we continue to distribute food parcels and warm clothes to those in need
For Muslims, Ramadan is coming to an end and there is still time to distribute « Zakaat ul Fitr » as food parcels and warm clothes.
Can you make a donation to help those less fortunate and whose needs are so basic - food and warm clothes.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we organised a girls fun run.
Heats had already been done to get to this Final. There were 2 groups and medals for the first three plus we provided a little bit of prize money - it was a proper race after all!
All the girls who took part received a Certificate. The race was 2 km.
When Rachid asked if they’d run in the past many of them said they had run marathon before. When was that? They replied the last time you did a fun run (2km). 😂🤣
Rachid thought if only a marathon was that easy😉
We were very happy to promote and organise this race and a great day was had by all to celebrate International Women’s Day
On Wednesday & Thursday this week we travelled to some of the most remote areas in the mountains. The people there were badly affected by the earthquake – they had very little and they have even less now. Times are very hard for them but they always are welcoming and provided with food and of course tea. As mentioned, before it takes several hours to get there so we drove on Wednesday and distributed on Thursday.
We would like to give thanks to both Akhirah Nanu and make them smile plus other individuals who have helped us make this possible. We were able to distribute food parcels to every family in two villages for Ramadan. One of the villages is so remote and there isn’t a road just a path, we had to ask the villagers to come to collect their parcels – now that’s remote.
Please help us if you can. Got to our Gofundme page

Happy International Women’s Day
We are proud to support International Women’s Day
Through our business and our charity, we support women in Morocco not only with donations but also to help them create business opportunities so that they can become financially independent. This gives them dignity and also increases their self-worth. This work includes making jellabas, carpets, argan oil and bee keeping, as well hospitality and catering.
We will continue to help and improve the lives of women in Morocco where we can
Many thanks to the all charities, businesses and individuals who support us
Children’s Sport’s day
More wonderful photos of a great day on Sunday 3rd
Thanks to everyone who made this day possible
A Children’s Sports Day was held on Sunday 3 March in collaboration with the Federation des Associations de Developpment - Amizmiz and the local authorities in the Amizmiz area in the Atlas Mountains. Children were invited from all the nearby villages and so many, many children turned up for this event.
First, there was the 2 km Fun run. Over 176 children turned up for the race. We ran several legs for the race and in fact Rachid Afouzar ran the last leg with the children. As it’s in the mountains the first part of the race was up hill but as the children are used to this terrain, they ran up there like mountain goats. As usual we had a medals donated along with oranges and bananas. As well as the medals etc. the first 50 children (25 boys and 25 girls) received warm clothes (two-piece outfit).
Next was the football match. Again we had over 80 kids who wanted to take part. To say this was oversubscribed is an understatement. 20 boys were selected by the locals for the football match – 10 in each team. One of the teams wore the Nanu Sports Foundation t-shirts. Again each of these 20 boys received a set of warm clothes.
In was an incredible day and all the children had a great time and the adults had a good time too. Especially when you see the smiles and joy on the children’s faces.
After the event ended, we also distributed 13 family packs. A family pack has a man’s jellaba, robe for woman, child’s two piece and warm socks for the adults.
The Morocco Memories team then packed up and drove back to Marrakech very tired after the long day but the smiles on our faces said it all.
A VERY BIG THANKS to , and Br Abid Hussain for their generous donations, without whom this day would not have been possible.
We hope to hold other events in the future
If you would like to donate please go to our GoFundme Page or contact us directly on WhatsApp 00447517662724 to help us and our charity .
Our Ramadan parcels will contain a selection of dried goods. Not forgetting the importance of tea and sugar for folks in Morocco. We also added 1/2L of local honey too.
We are ready for our food parcel delivery tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will be going far into the Atlas Mountains, near the epicentre of the earthquake, to make deliveries.
It’s about a 7 hour drive to get there so we will need to leave early. So an early night is needed for our journey tomorrow.
Watch out for our next posts on our Ramadan distribution and the U.K. charities that are helping us.
You can see the previous video when our team was up in the mountains to deliver clothes to families in the villages. However, for us it’s not just about delivering donations, we feel it’s important to make it a special day for the children. We want them to have a joyful day and good memories.
So as well as clothes distribution, we also once again arranged a children’s race. Children were split into age categories and the winners received a medal. All the children got a banana, dates and warm clothes.
We have successfully run (pardon the pun) this event before and anytime we do this it is a great success and the children love it.
It is so heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces to take part in this activity and then received medals for the winners and importantly children clothes for every child. We also distributed some family packs for the adults as well.
A great day was had by all and to coin a phrase We Will Be Back.
We are now getting ready for our Ramadan distribution which will be carried in the next couple of weeks.
Many thanks to the Akhirah team, Nanu Sports Foundation and Ashworth family for their kind donations

Our previous post the other day talked about our recent visit up to the mountains delivering donations. Please see our video here.
For us it’s not just about giving donations where people could become reliant on these. It’s about helping people where we can so that they can become financially independent and give them back their dignity and reliance on themselves. So we help some individuals by giving some money to start a business. For example, bee hives in the mountains also making carpets and woollen Jellabiya. They can sell the goods themselves but often we buy the goods from them and we can distribute these to people who are in need.
It’s the old story do you give a fish or a fishing rod?
We are also now getting ready for our Ramadan distribution and more details will follow on this

More photos of our clothes and food parcels distribution yesterday
We are so grateful for donations to us to help people in need in Morocco
Best laid plans….
Previously re road issues after heavy rain we couldn’t deliver!
Today we were packed and ready to go to do deliveries in the remote areas in the mountains both today and tomorrow.
But we got a call to say that the roads are blocked and impassable. Rock slides have meant that it’s not possible to get in or out of these remote locations. The government authorities are working hard to try and clear the roads and we applaud their efforts to get access to these difficult areas. However, it will take a little time. We are providing help and paying for additional workers to try and speed things up.
Unfortunately, weather at this time of year can hamper efforts and this so frustrating as people need help at this time.
So it’s probably going to be early to middle of next week before we can get to these areas. This set back will not deter us in our work to give help and support to the people that need it.
Someone suggested that we should just take our packages and just drop them off to a nearby village somewhere!! Don’t think so - we do our research and find the people who need help the most - those are the ones we are looking for. Folks in the UK who generously donate to us expect no less and that’s what we will always do.
God bless everyone who supports us and we will support those in the most need in Morocco.
Everything was ready for today - warm clothes and food parcels
But very heavy rains here today and we were advised by locals not to attempt the journey as the mountains are too dangerous (risk of flooding, rocks and mudslides)
Very sad but delivery of donations will need to wait a few days till weather and roads improve and dry out.
We will be back up to the mountains as soon as we can.

Some more photos of our day in the mountains distributing clothes
Special thanks to the village for the gift of a tagine each 😃
Today is another day in our journey to help people in the mountains. Our friend and brother, Amin, and his family joined us, and with his help, along with other kind donations we provided warm clothes to yet another village. As you can from the photos people are living in very difficult conditions and they are so grateful to see us. We were each given a gift of a Moroccan Tagine - so thoughtful and useful too.
The donations used today from brother Amin & his family, and Make them Smile all made this day possible
Go Bless you all

Help2Hope Maroc
2024 is now here and many people have made their New year’s resolutions.
At this time of year, we usually add families to our list for help. Sadly, this year we can’t add any new families in need in Morocco as we have done each year for many years.
We usually take on board around 4 new families with special needs or those in extreme poverty. BUT this year, due to the increase costs for us in hotels and some other services in Morocco, this unfortunately will not be possible to provide help to any new families. It makes us sad but we can only do what we can.
We will continue to help the existing families and we can still deliver warm clothes, food parcels etc for Moroccans - victims of the devastating earthquake. We have been able to do this with the fantastic help of friends and UK charities. We will continue to strive to help where we can. So roll on 2024.
God bless everyone

Let’s go shopping
Visit Marrakech and enjoy wandering around the alleyways and the Souk (market and shops) inside the Medina.
So many lighting designs to choose from, large ceiling lights to small lamps. Next are shops selling handmade items such as leather, pottery, woodwork, carpets and even maybe think about a drum or two. Will everything fit into your hand luggage?

We were up in the mountains this weekend to deliver food parcels and warm clothes. We visited 2 villages. The roads are so narrow and dangerous. The 2nd village we had to ask the villagers to meet us as there is no road to get us there - so they came to us. Overall we distributed 89 food parcels for Ramadan between the two villages. With great thanks to Fountain of Mercy and Ihsan Foundation for their generous donations to make this possible. Warm clothes were also needed and we were able ourselves to donate 43 family packs between the 2 villages. Best wishes to everyone who supports us Ramadan Kareem Also as it’s Easter a very Happy Easter Monday . .....

On Monday 26th we started our long journey with Makethemsmile to visit the villages near the epicentre of the earthquake. It’s a long tough road. It took about 7 to 8 hours each way. When we arrived we had a wonderful reception and greeting from the villagers. Both young and old came to welcome us. Hardly anyone visits them as it’s so far away, which is so sad as these are people who really need help. Thank God we are there for them through the help of donations from the UK. With the donations from MakethemSmile, we were able to distribute 90 food parcels for Ramadan to families in 3 villages. It was a hard road but everyone from MakethemSmile and Morocco Memories agreed it was so worth the effort to help where we could. Thanks once again to MakethemSmile for making this possibleIf you would like to donate please go to our Gofundme page at https://gofund.me/26a3e1bf. We have been waiting for the roads to open and thanks to the local people the roads have been cleared and they are keen to see us for clothes distribution and food parcels. As soon we heard the roads were clear our team got ready yesterday and drove to the mountains. We spent time at two villages to provide aid for families of food parcels along with warm clothes. We try to provide as much as we can based on the resources we have. We would like to thank the Akhirah Team, Nanu Sports Foundation and the Ashworth family. It was such a joy to welcome the Akhirah Team and Nanu Sports Foundation to Morocco to distribute aid to the locals in the mountains affected by the terrible earthquake. We spent 4 days with them travelling to the remote villages in the mountains providing a combination of warm clothes and food parcels for families. Villages received donations to meet their specific needs. The roads to get to these villages are long and dangerous - BUT the welcome we received from these communities was all so worthwhile. The local children took part in the training sessions and sports activities provided by Nano Sports Foundation. It was difficult to know who has the better time the trainers or the children. Much laughing and smiles all round. This is what raises the spirit and keeps us going. More travelling to do and to continue with our distributions.God bless everyone, especially the @theakhirahteam and @nanu_sportsfoundationleeds for their generous support and help
