Saint Lucian Diaspora visits Las Palmas
The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) is more than just a sailing event—it’s a vibrant celebration of adventure, camaraderie, and cultural connection. From November 15th to 17th, members of the Saint Lucian Diaspora in London journeyed to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, to participate in the opening of this year’s ARC. Their visit, hosted by the World Cruising Club and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, included tours of Las Palmas courtesy of Ayuntamiento Las Palmas and Turismo Gran Canaria, showcasing the deep ties between the rally and Saint Lucia.
The 2024 edition marks the 39th year of the ARC to the Caribbean, with sailors embarking on a thrilling 2,700-nautical-mile journey across the Atlantic, culminating in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia. Since 1990, Saint Lucia has proudly served as the rally’s Caribbean home, a testament to its enduring appeal within the global sailing community. As this milestone event approaches, the people of Saint Lucia eagerly prepare to welcome the sailors with open arms, vibrant festivities, and the island’s signature warmth and hospitality.
