The Carvery caters for all aspects of audio mastering and manufacturing including mastering for online distribution and CD. We have many years experience, particularly in vinyl mastering, and also offer a complete vinyl restoration and tape-to-disk service.

I realised today that and I have now been working together for exactly 20 years! There is even the possibility that Ben was the first ever Carvery client back when the studio was in an old printers in Hackney Wick. I remember cutting dubs for him and as some of our very first cuts. In fact; we first met when I was a chef working at a pub in Farringdon. I remember he invited me to see him play at Fabric, he destroyed the place on 4 turntables and 2 cdjs. Seamlessly combining the hats from one record, the melody from another and the bass and kick from a third whilst bringing in a fourth, honestly, my mind was blown.

Lovely session today cutting three upcoming releases, discussing the highs and lows of life, music, family and the future.

As friends and family of The Carvery, we need your attention for just a second. Frank’s sister Olivia (‘Widge’ to her friends) needs your help. Last week she was diagnosed with breast cancer that has aggressively spread to her liver. Due to the fast spread of the disease she started chemotherapy yesterday, the first of many sessions and a long road to recovery.

We know Widge is a fighter, she first battled breast cancer during lockdown whilst single handedly looking after her three young children, Sophie, Oscar and Gus.

Due to the intense pressure, Frank will be dialling back on Carvery work for a short time to help support Widge and her family but bare with us we are keen to keep working on your music.

In order to help with the escalating cost, Frank’s partner Alice has set up a Gofundme campaign to help Widge and her kids. Through the overwhelming generosity of their friends they have already raised nearly £22000 which will help enormously in the coming months. As friends, family and clients of The Carvery we hope that you will click on the link in our bio and give what you can to help.

Exiting day here in London as we perform the first ‘all analogue’ cut of ‘Free Will’ written and performed by Gil Scott-Heron and , originally recorded in 1972. Honestly, it sound amazing!!

Wow, genuinely gutted to hear of the passing of the great Jah Shaka, Zulu Warrior. Shaka’s spirit and legacy lives on in his son Young Warrior and in the hearts of the millions he moved with one of the worlds most notorious sound systems. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Emerging in the 1970s as a result of the strategic positioning of Cartagena’s port on the commercial ‘highway’, Champeta and its colourful Píco sound systems took a stronghold in Afro-Columbian communities along the coastline. Combining Congolese soukous, Nigerian highlife, South African mbaqanga among other Caribbean and Latin root sounds, Champeta was a Pan-African movement that united Columbia’s marginalised Afro-Columbian population.

The Carvery speaks to Lucas Silva of Founded in 1996, naming it after the historic free town in Columbia, San Basilio de Palenque, which is regarded as the birthplace of the musical phenomenon; Champeta.
