Celebrating Holi: A Dazzling Exploration of Spring, Mythology, and Unity 🇮🇳
As spring awakens India in a riot of colours, we celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colours! This vibrant spectacle transcends mere revelry, boasting a rich tapestry of cultural and historical significance.
A Journey Through Time: Fascinating Facts about Holi
Ancient Origins: Holi’s roots stretch back centuries, with references found in texts dating as far back as the 4th century AD.
Myths and Legends: The festival is deeply intertwined with Hindu mythology. One captivating story tells of Prahlad, a devotee of Vishnu, who remained unharmed in a fiery attempt on his life. The bonfire lit on the eve of Holi, Holika Dahan, commemorates the burning of evil in the form of Holika, a demon.
Love and Play: Another popular legend associates Holi with the playful love story of Radha and Krishna. It’s said that Krishna would playfully smear colours on Radha’s face, a tradition that continues today with the throwing of coloured powders called “gulal.” This signifies the breaking down of social barriers and the embrace of playful joy.
More Than Just Colour: The Profound Message of Holi
Beyond the dazzling spectacle, Holi offers a powerful message of unity, forgiveness, and the triumph of good over evil. It’s a time to shed inhibitions, mend broken relationships, and celebrate the vibrant tapestry of life.
Experience the Spirit of Holi: How You Can Join the Celebration
Embrace the Tradition: Don the customary white attire – a perfect canvas for the symbolic transformation of colours!
Craft Your Own Colours: Explore creating your own natural “gulal” using safe ingredients like chickpea flour and beetroot powder for an authentic touch.
Connect Virtually: Share the joy of Holi greetings with loved ones in India, fostering a sense of connection despite distance.

Warm Wishes to Everyone from the Team at Transindus
Durga Puja is a celebration of the goddess Durga, who defeated the evil Mahishasura.
During this festival, the city is adorned with thousands of pandals, which are temporary structures that house the idols of Durga and her children.
These pandals are marvels of art and creativity, as they depict various themes and stories related to the goddess.
We visit some of the most famous and beautiful pandals in Kolkata, and admire the craftsmanship and skill of the artists who make them. Participate in the rituals and ceremonies that honour the goddess, such as offering flowers, fruits, sweets, and incense. Enjoy the festive atmosphere, as the streets are filled with music, dance, and joy. Immerse yourself in the culture and cuisine of Bengal
Durga Puja is a festival of colours, as each day has a different colour associated with it. The colours represent the qualities and attributes of the goddess, such as peace, power, love, wisdom, and prosperity. We wear clothes that match the colours of each day, and feel the blessings of the goddess in our lives.
