The African and Oriental Travel Company African and Oriental Travel, a dedicated centre of excellence in Safaris and scubadiving adventures. We incorporated the company in the United Kingdom in 2012.

The African and Oriental Travel company is the product of 20 years of living and working in the tourism industry in Asia and Africa. We specialise in adventure locations that we have visited ourselves, time and again, either personally or leading groups of divers, hikers, or culturally aware travellers. Our Ethos

We only sell what we have visited and what we know. We focus on our destinations. We

are utterly honest when managing your diving & safari expectations. We only deal with safe operations that we have physically inspected. We will be completely honest and open with you. We have the humility to say: “let me find out, as I am not sure”. We want to share our years of experience and knowledge with you. We will always defer to someone who has more knowledge than us, even if this means encouraging you to book outside our company. We treat you as our guests as would an old-fashioned safari guide. We are on your side. If someone lets you down, they are letting us down: We will step in, and we will make it right.

Scuba Diving in St Helena is like no other destination on earth. It may be difficult to get here, but if you can get here the diving is incredible.

St Helena is an island of contrasts. It has arid desert conditions and wet semi tropical greenery. The people are the friendliest most welcoming on earth, and yet it's quicker and friendlier to land in Moscow than St Helena Airport. The island is home to the most incredible walks and dive sites, and yet the powers that be close some of them.

Lastly, St Helena is the most magical of islands.The worlds best kept subtropical semi secret. And yet in the current weather conditions it is almost inaccessible. We are so lucky to be here; but we don't know when or if we could return.

In this episode, we talk to Pat Hubbuck about our meeting in Siem Reap in Cambodia in 2001. Pat has since lived all over the world, but keeps coming back to this once small town. His knowledge of the changing face of western Cambodia is impressive and captivating.

Manas National Park in Assam is one of the least well known and least visited. Straddling the nations of Bhutan and India, it is packed with wildlife. A simple morning game drive rewarded us with sightings of scores of birds, elephants, deer, monkeys, wild boar and Buffalo. The chill air, kept the leopards, tigers and panthers from our door. We must return to see them in the (Indian) summer. #orientafricatravel ,

Our Story

Before we became Africa and Dive Experts, we started out running a very small dive centre in India. This became larger and the first private dive centre in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. after that Raf Jah founded Swahili Divers in Pemba Island Tanzania, and was joined by Francisca soon afterwards. Swahili Divers became the first PADI 5 Star dive centre in Pemba, and the first Instructor Training facility in Tanzania. We incorporated the African and Oriental Travel company in the United Kingdom in 2012. Since then we have been providing safaris and dive holidays to people who care where they go, and care about how much goes into the local community. As the AOTC built up, we could not manage two businesses so we sold Swahili Divers in 2016

With We specialise in adventure locations that we have visited ourselves, time and again, either personally or leading groups of divers, photographers and culturally aware travellers.

From diving in the Antarctic, to sitting on a beach in Indonesia or scuba diving with sharks in Papua New Guinea, we are here to make it happen for you.

We are ABTOT bonded under the UK’s strict Tour Operator Regulations 1992, and ATOL protected for any flight inclusive packages. Which means we are fully insured and licensed under British Law, and your holiday is 100% financially protected.
