Thursday throwback!
We love looking back (and occasionally visiting) this project in the Blackheath conservation area. Works included reconfiguration and extensions to the ground floor areas, modifications to an existing lift, and refurb works throughout. As well as creating shelter and shade, the slim cantilevered roof creates a strong horizontal emphasis that 'grounds' the house connecting it to the external landscape.

“Bronze is the mirror of the form...” Aeschylus.

Very pleased to share a few photos of our recently completed ‘bronze-house’ project in the Brockley conservation area - a rear addition which echoes the form the conservatory it replaces. The apex of the roof is tweaked to create an interesting contemporary portico geometry which provides shelter and shade. The bronze cladding will weather and patina over time to a dark bronze colour. Sections of the external form have been cut away to create tension and asymmetry also allowing daylight and sunlight to pe*****te into the interior spaces. More pics to follow.
