View of the IFS Cloud Cable Car! 🌉 Opened on 28 June 2012, the iconic gondola lift spans the River Thames, connecting North Greenwich and Royal Docks. It reaches a maximum elevation of 90 metres (300 ft), and offers stunning city views.

The cable car travels approximately 1,100 metres (0.68 miles) across the river, with a journey time of around 10 minutes and cabins arriving every 30 seconds. With the capacity to transport up to 5,000 passengers per hour—equivalent to nearly 60 double-decker buses—it’s a fantastic way to see London from above.

Today in History (11 November 1918) is Armistice Day, when World War I ended. Pictured below is The Cenotaph in London, a national war memorial. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and unveiled on 11 November 1920, the second anniversary of the Armistice.

Located on Whitehall, a short distance from 10 Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives, The Cenotaph is a simple, unadorned structure 11 metres ( (35 feet) tall, consisting of a tomb chest atop a rectangular pylon. It is made of Portland stone and is inscribed with the words "The Glorious Dead."

Today marks Election Day in the United States, and in recognition of this significant event, we are sharing a photo of the statue of George Washington, America’s first president.

This statue is prominently located in Trafalgar Square, directly in front of the National Gallery in London. It is a replica of an original statue created by sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon and was presented to the British people by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1921. Interestingly, the statue stands on a foundation made from soil imported from Virginia, symbolizing Washington's vow never to set foot on British soil again.

Washington is one of six American presidents commemorated with statues in London. Others include Abraham Lincoln, whose statue is located in Parliament Square; Franklin D. Roosevelt, represented in Grosvenor Square and also seated with Winston Churchill on New Bond Street; Dwight D. Eisenhower, also in Grosvenor Square; John F. Kennedy, memorialized on Marylebone Road; and Ronald Reagan, honored with a statue at the American Embassy.
