🌟 We are delighted to learn that Heather Thomas has been nominated for Sailor of the Year 2024 at the British Yachting Awards.

⛵ In April this year, Heather led a 12-strong, all female crew on a race around the world aboard the ‘Maiden’.

🏆 It’s the first time a female British skipper has ever won a round-the-world race, and the first time an all-female crew has won.

Heather has a long association with Sailing Holidays, having worked with us as a Hostie, Skipper, and more recently as an RYA Instructor.

We are so proud of all Heather’s accomplishments!

Heather Thomas, who skippered the legendary Maiden to victory in the Ocean Globe Race earlier this year, joins us today at the Southampton Boat Show.

Heather worked for Sailing Holidays as a Flotilla Skipper six years ago, after many flotilla holidays with her family as a youngster.

Since then she was involved in The Maiden Factor Project, skippering the vessel for the 2023-2024 Ocean Globe Race and becoming the first all-female team to win an around-the-world race!

Heather recently joined us as an instructor for a couple of months teaching our RYA Courses based out of Corfu.
