The vastness of the Great Karoo holds a special place in our hearts, and yet is something few travellers to South Africa get to experience. A few weeks ago, after many covid delays, we finally had the privilege to be able to spend time exploring this wild frontier on horseback. It is now our even greater privilege to be able to share this unique equine magic with the rest of The Lost Society.

On our Ranch Retreats you will be welcomed into ranch life like a long-lost family member, spend time appreciating the silence and space with your horse, and be fed more delicious food (most of it cooked over the camp fire) than you ever imagined possible (and you'll be ready for it too, rounding up cattle in the mountain air makes you seriously hungry!)

There are Ranch Retreats for all abilities, from equine therapy suitable for complete novices (like us) to being part of the Cattle Drive, which requires experience.

A trip of a lifetime, three years in the making (and waiting, and waiting...). We genuinely couldn't have wished for a more wonderful bunch of humans to return to South Africa with. Eternally grateful for their patience and enthusiasm, not to mention their singing...! From Kruger to Cape Town, via the Karoo, the Garden Route, the Cederberg, the Winelands, the West Coast and everywhere in between, pure joy all the way! Its great to be back 😊

Like many others, we took the opportunity during the last two years to explore our own backyard. We did it the way we do anywhere else, by getting lost and talking to people. On that journey we met some wonderful people doing all kinds of imaginative things.

One of those people was Sarah, who we are extremely chuffed to now be in cahoots with! and her team of magicians create mindful ‘journeys within journeys’ along the Cornish coast and we are beyond excited to introduce you to her transformational walkabouts.

Its really quite miraculous the impact that just a little bit of sunshine and blue sky can have on one's mood. Unfortunately we can't guarantee there'll be any... This is England and we all know better. But we will guarantee that the combination of fresh air and our No.1 dinky little Shepherd's Hut will put a smile on your dial on even the gloomiest days.
