“The locals have always known this was here, but the French came and wrote books about it and made it world famous,” says my local guide Nivath, born and raised in Siem Reap, as we walk in the pre-dawn darkness towards the moated, 12th-century Angkor Wat. I can just make out its lotus-bud-like towers against the navy clouds. Many visitors come at dawn to beat the heat and watch the sun rise, and as I wait for the sky to lighten into a watercolour of pinks and purples, we explore the gopura (entry gate) in the glow of a phone torch."

🇹🇭 Where have you just come back from and why did you go there?
I’ve just returned from an incredible few weeks in Thailand. It’s a country I fell in love with it long before I even set foot there, and after finally visiting last year, I knew I had to go back for a longer adventure. There’s just so much to explore! Thailand is vast and endlessly fascinating—I have no idea how many trips it will take to truly experience its highlights, but I’m excited to keep discovering more.

🇹🇭 What was your best experience?
It’s hard to pick just one! Climbing the steepest stairs to reach the breathtaking Emerald Lagoon in Angthong National Park was unforgettable. Snorkeling around Koh Tao’s vibrant waters, zip-lining through Phuket’s lush forests, and ending each day with a stunning sunset—every moment felt like a dream.

🇹🇭 What was your favourite meal?
Without a doubt, tofu pad Thai! I could eat it every single day, especially paired with a refreshing coconut smoothie. The flavors are just unbeatable!

🇦🇪 Where have you just come back from and why did you go there?
I’ve just returned from an amazing 10-day trip to sunny Dubai, where I spent quality time visiting my sister while also enjoying a much-needed vacation. It was the perfect balance of family time and exploration. We explored the bustling city, lounged on the stunning beaches, and even had the chance to experience the desert, with camel rides through the dunes and unforgettable sunsets. It was truly a memorable getaway!

🇦🇪 What was your best experience?
My best experience has to be the Dubai Eye (Ain Dubai). Standing at 250 meters, it’s the tallest observation wheel in the world. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, with the entire coastline spread out before you, including the Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, and the stunning Downtown Dubai skyline. It’s an unforgettable way to see the city!
Another amazing experience was visiting Global Village, where I immersed myself in a vibrant mix of cultures, food, and entertainment. Both were highlights of my trip!

🇦🇪 What was your favourite meal?
My favourite restaurant has to be Lavash Jumeirah – it offers a fantastic dining experience where you pay one price for unlimited fresh breakfast and brunch dishes! My top pick is the Croissant Benedict – it’s exactly what it sounds like, with truffle mushrooms, turkey ham, poached eggs, and a rich hollandaise sauce. Absolutely delicious!
