Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett has
announced that the organizers of Carnival in Jamaica will forego the annual road march and related activities for April 2021, until further notice. This comes as a result of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After a number of consultations with the relevant stakeholders, we can now announce that
Jamaica will not be hosting Carnival in Jamaica in April this year. We strongly believe it is in
the best interest of our people and will aid in the Government’s fight to preserve lives and
livelihoods, as we continue to see an increase in cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said
Minister Bartlett.

Organizers have, however, indicated that all bands and fetes will honour tickets and costumes
purchased in 2020 for the next staging.

Jamaica is a nation with a very distinct personality, so much so that much of its culture has filtered to the rest of the world.
The destination is blessed with award winning resorts, spectacular natural attractions and makes for the ultimate holiday.
Unknown to many are the various aspects of wellness that is available. When we think wellness, many of us conjure up thoughts of yoga on the beach early in the morning, the many spa treatments that are readily available along with specific diets but this week we will look at alternate wellness options available in Jamaica.
The original name of the island is Xayamaca, which translates to the land of wood and water. Jamaica has over 120 rivers and streams and some are hot or mineral springs.
One such is Bath Fountain located in the east of the island in St. Thomas. The facilities include a small spa and hotel, but many people opt for a more natural experience and go on a short hike to the source of the hot waters and get various massages and treatment offered by residents.
Albeit not located on the main thoroughfare, this attraction makes for an exciting day out and perfect for those who want to explore a bit off the beaten path and something to consider once travel is back to normal.

Damion ‘Gong’ Marley, one of the legendary Bob Marley’s children have continued in his father’s footsteps and produces great reggae music.
One of his inspirational tracts taken from his song ‘There for you’ is:
Vexation of spirit is a waste of time, negative thinking don’t you waste your thoughts, verbal conflict is a waste of words, physical conflict is a waste of flesh, people will always be who they want, that’s what really makes the world go round, unconditional love is scarce. - Junior Gong
A great message encouraging us to adopt a positive outlook to life avoiding negative influences.
