📍 Moorgate, Elizabeth Line West Exit

Have you seen the mesmerising Manifold (Major Third) 5:4 by British artist Conrad Shawcross RA, located outside the western entrance to the Elizabeth line station at Moorgate?
This stunning bronze sculpture, commissioned in 2019 by The Crossrail Art Foundation with support from Victoria Miro Gallery, embodies the intricate mathematics of a chord descending into silence.

Inspired by a Victorian pendulum-driven drawing machine known as a harmonograph, which played a pivotal role in the science of synaesthesia, Shawcross’s work translates these mathematical observations into a striking physical form. This is a must-see piece of public art that seamlessly blends science, music, and visual beauty in the heart of London.

If you find yourself in the area be sure to visit this captivating intersection of art and mathematics for yourself!
