Well thats another year over! Agent Barfield has hung up his walking shoes and waistcoat until January after a very busy 2024. I would like to thank everyone for your support over the past 12 months, including speaker and walk organisers from the many groups and associations that continue to support Barfield Capital Tours. Today a public enquiry begins into the death of Dawn Sturgess, an innocent victim of the attempt by the Russian State to murder the double agent Sergei Skripal with the lethal nerve agent Novichok in Salisbury in 2018. Dawn died after spraying what she thought was perfume on her skin. The bottle, found by her partner contained one of the most toxic man made substances ever produced. Rest in peace Dawn.

When the head of Mi5 tells you Russia is waging war on the streets of Britain we all need to listen. Giving his annual update on security threats faced by the UK, Ken McCallum said GRU agents had carried out "arson, sabotage and more dangerous actions conducted with increasing recklessness" in Britain after the UK backed Ukraine in its war with Russia. Last night I was very honoured to assist former Police Officer John Murray on his continuing quest to obtain justice for his friend and comrade PC Yvonne Fletcher, murdered outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984. John asked me to present Yvonne’s story to an audience in Maidstone.

Last night I presented the story of WPC Yvonne Fletcher and The Libyan Embassy Siege to a public audience for the first time at a local club in Oxhey. I was very honoured to meet retired Police Officer John Murray, who has dedicated 40 years of his life to obtaining proper justice for her murder on that terrible day in 1984. His commitment to a promise he made to Yvonne as she lay dying is inspirational. It was a very special night for me, thank you John.

WPC Yvonne Fletcher was murdered outside The Libyan Embassy in London in 1984 by henchmen of Colonel Ghaddafi. PC John Murray, with Yvonne that day, made a promise to her to find her killers and bring them to justice. His 40 year fight is nearing a climax with a private criminal prosecution pending. Today Barfield Capital Tours remembers all the heroes who crossed a narrow sea in ships to free a continent from tyranny and evil. 80 years ago today hundreds of thousand of young men, supported by millions more men and women, stormed the beaches in Normandy, France. Many would come home, many would remain on the beaches. Today we salute each and every one of you who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you.

Today I attended the 40th anniversary memorial service for PC Yvonne Fletcher, murdered by Libyan gunmen outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984. It was very moving and concluded with the release of a flock of white doves by her ex colleagues. RIP Officer, WPC 4257 Yvonne Fletcher, Metropolitan Police.
