You never know what life has in store for you. Last night I was very honoured to assist former Police Officer John Murray on his continuing quest to obtain justice for his friend and comrade PC Yvonne Fletcher, murdered outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984. John asked me to present Yvonne’s story to an audience in Maidstone.

Last night I presented the story of WPC Yvonne Fletcher and The Libyan Embassy Siege to a public audience for the first time at a local club in Oxhey. I was very honoured to meet retired Police Officer John Murray, who has dedicated 40 years of his life to obtaining proper justice for her murder on that terrible day in 1984. His commitment to a promise he made to Yvonne as she lay dying is inspirational. It was a very special night for me, thank you John.

WPC Yvonne Fletcher was murdered outside The Libyan Embassy in London in 1984 by henchmen of Colonel Ghaddafi. PC John Murray, with Yvonne that day, made a promise to her to find her killers and bring them to justice. His 40 year fight is nearing a climax with a private criminal prosecution pending. Today Barfield Capital Tours remembers all the heroes who crossed a narrow sea in ships to free a continent from tyranny and evil. 80 years ago today hundreds of thousand of young men, supported by millions more men and women, stormed the beaches in Normandy, France. Many would come home, many would remain on the beaches. Today we salute each and every one of you who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you.

Today I attended the 40th anniversary memorial service for PC Yvonne Fletcher, murdered by Libyan gunmen outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984. It was very moving and concluded with the release of a flock of white doves by her ex colleagues. RIP Officer, WPC 4257 Yvonne Fletcher, Metropolitan Police.

Today, research for my new presentation took me to St Leonards Church in Semley, Wiltshire, the final resting place of WPC Yvonne Fletcher who was murdered in 1984 outside the Libyan Embassy in London. As well as paying my respects to a fellow Officer I took some photos of the beautiful stained glass window that commemorates her sacrifice and service. When it's ready I hope my presentation does justice to a fallen comrade. RIP Yvonne.

BBC Sounds have now released their 3 Podcast series 'Death Of A Codebreaker' concerning the mysterious death of mathematician Gareth Williams who was working at Mi6 in London in 2010. Found locked into a sports bag in his bath this mild mannered computer genius became the subject of worldwide attention. My small part in this production can be found in episode 2 from 5m55 secs.

Well its taken a while but Barfield Capital Tours have now decided to bring to life the courageous and tragic tale of Noor Inayat Khan, a secret agent of the SOE (Special Operations Executive) in World War 2.
I cannot wait to share this amazing true story with audiences next year. This half American half Indian Princess who fought on Britains side against the Nazi's in Paris needs to be remembered. I hope I can do her exploits justice!

I don’t post all my presentations now but a trip to Wilmslow in Cheshire deserves a mention. In 2021 during Covid I shared the story of WW2 spy Nancy Wake via Zoom to the good people of Wilmslow U3A. Today I returned in person to recount the tragic death of the spy Gareth Williams. Thank you for the very warm reception and company. Barfield.

45 years ago today Bulgarian Journalist Georghi Markov died, 4 days after being injected with a pellet containing the toxin Ricin, fired from a modified umbrella on London's Waterloo Bridge. This Cold War assassination was planned by the KGB and carried out by a Bulgarian spy codenamed Agent Piccadilly. He is one of a countless number of people, silenced for giving voice to uncomfortable truths. Free speech is a precious gift we must never take for granted.

Ian Fleming, celebrated author, playwright and British Naval Intelligence Officer during World War 2 passed away on the 12th August 1964. He invented the Vesper Cocktail in the DUKES Bar at the Dukes Hotel, Mayfair in honour of Vesper Lynd the female lead character in his first James Bond book Casino Royale.
