We were delighted to welcome back Natalie and her family who first stayed with us in 2018. It's amazing to see how much the children have grown since their last visit. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do - creating a space that feels like a home-away-from-home, a place worth returning to. π‘β₯οΈ

First impressions: Our recent Airbnb stay
Having been in hospitality for nearly 9 years, I have become quite critical of the places we stay which drives my family mad π
I truly believe that the first 45 seconds of entering a property can make or break your stay.
Recently we arrived at our Airbnb and were immediately greeted by a broken ceiling light - quite dangerous and definitely not what you want to see upon arrival.
This experience made me reflect on just how important it is for a place to not only look good but to also function properly.
At Parish Mill Holidays, we take great pride in ensuring our guests have a seamless and welcoming experience from the moment they step through the door. Hosting isn't always easy, but we have worked hard to get it just right.
After all, first impressions are everything and we want to make sure your is perfect every time.

We have been a little quiet recently on our socials and that is because I have been planning & creating π
With the help of the team .landscapes welcome to our new stream side oasis at the Lodge!
Nick & his team have worked wonders and have brought my ideas to life.
Picture yourself relaxing by the gentle flow of the stream, with birdsong in the air and a cosy seating area just steps away.
It's the perfect spot for unwinding, bird watching or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
But I think there is something that needs to be added π€, what do you think?

Our guests today are celebrating their 20th anniversary.
As the traditional gift for 20 years of marriage is china, we thought it would be a lovely gesture to leave a handmade china heart from our local artisans

As a small family business, Parish Mill Holidays is committed to supporting a worthy cause each year. This year we are delighted to donate a 2 night stay in our Cottage to an auction in aid of The Sam Polledri Foundation.
The Sam Polledri Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for public access defibrillators and providing vital training. Their incredible efforts have already installed 15 defibrillators, saving 2 precious lives.
We are honoured to support their mission and wish them every success at their Charity Ball & hope this auction raises plenty of funds to continue their fantastic work.

Just returned from a much needed short break. I can't emphasise enough how important these little escapes are for our mental well being! π

I'm deeply saddened to share that our family has experienced a tremendous loss over the past few weeks.
We lost both my father-in-law Viv and his brother, Uncle Trevor within a week of each other.
They both had a passion for tinkering with tractors π & loved to help out around the garden especially maintaining our trees. We have some fond memories!
It's been an incredible emotional time for all of us and their absence leaves a profound void in our hearts β₯οΈ

Alex & Jo had an amazing weekend walking the hills in Longhope, cycling in the Forest of Dean and tasting the local food!
With the weather being so glorious Jo found serenity in our garden practising yoga whilst listening to the birdsong!

Planning application PO8579/24/FUL for a chair lift on May Hill has been approved in principle.
This would be located from the car park located just off the A40, to the ridge line of the trees
May Hill is one of the most familiar landmarks in the east of the Forest of Dean and at 296 metres (971 feet) it is the highest point around. There are views from the top for many miles in all directions and on a clear day you can see up to 12 other counties. Its summit is on the western edge of Gloucestershire and its northern slopes in Herefordshire. It is reached by three public footpaths, two forming parts of the Gloucestershire Way and Wysis Way.
Due to the popularity of this location, the outline planning consent application that was approved was largely supported, making the summit easily accessible for all and marking it as the iconic landmark that it is.

Acts of kindness can create memorable moments! A guest visiting the Forest of Dean was searching for a place to photograph Dipper birds. Although he wasn't staying with us we invited him to our garden as we have resident Dippers. They were such a lovely couple and they managed to take some great shots. They were so grateful & another tick in their bucket list of birds to photograph π·πͺΆπ§ Hopefully he will share his photos soon π That was on Wednesday and today we invited a local resident, Angela Carswell, who also contacted us interested in photographing the Dippers. Sadly she didn't see them but was in bird heaven with the Tree Creepers, Bullfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Wren and Swallows. Don't forgot to swipe left to see Angela's photos.
