This is Little Joe, our friendly 10hh miniature Shetland who’s been with us for 7 years (now a lively 12!)🐴

He’s given so many children their very first ride, and he’s always making new friends – tots, adults, and other ponies. He’s even been known to pop into the farmhouse every now and then! Life at Tredethick wouldn’t be the same without him. 💛

🍁 Autumn on the farm—half-term bliss! 🍁

We loved welcoming families for cosy Cornish days filled with our favourite farm friends and golden leaves. Nothing beats the beauty of a Cornish autumn, especially with all the little hands helping us care for our animal crew. Here's a few photos from the last week🐴🍂

Half-term in Cornwall! 🍂 We loved sharing this special week with cottage guests, discovering new experiences and revisiting much-loved places.

Here’s a look at some highlights:

Sunlit Padstow harbour and a beautiful day cycling the Camel Trail—three generations together!
"The Story of Emily," an inspiring exhibit perfect for families with children over 10.
A stroll and coffee in Charlestown, a dip in the geothermal pool at Jubilee Lido (Penzance), and beautiful, leaf-filled walks in Respryn Woods. A scenic stop for coffee at Olive Café at Siblyback Lake and a lovely circular walk from Readymoney Cove to Coombe Farm with coffee and cake at the beach shop. ☕🍰
For those thinking about winter breaks, we’re already gathering inspiration to help make the colder months cosy and memorable for new and longtime guest families. ❄️

While autumn is in full swing, we’re already looking ahead to the joys of spring 2025. If you’re dreaming of a countryside escape filled with fresh spring air, beautiful Cornish scenery, and farmyard fun, it’s never too early to start planning. A highlight of spring at Tredethick is our hands-on lamb feeding—an experience you won’t find everywhere! Plus, our indoor pool, woodland walks, and friendly animals will be ready to welcome your family as nature reawakens next year.

As autumn settles in, our sheltered farm trail becomes even more magical, with the vibrant colours of sweet chestnuts, beech, and hazelnut trees creating an enchanting canopy. Be quick, though—the squirrels and dormice are already busy gathering their winter stash! Our idyllic, dog-free woodland walk offers the perfect escape, complete with a gentle stream and fun play features along the way. Don’t forget to grab a scavenger bag and story map from the farm shop before heading out—happy little explorers who complete their hunt can claim a sweet treat back at the farm!

October feels like the perfect time for a farm stay, Every year we get more enquiries about pony rides than anything else—and it’s easy to see why! The thrill of that first ride is unforgettable. Meeting your pony, greeting the animals, and being nearly as tall as Mum while riding—it’s all part of the magic. Liz, our pony expert, and Farmer Jenny are here to help you brush the ponies before enjoying a gentle lead-rein ride. Parents often say, "Oh no, they’ve fallen in love with ponies!" a passion that can quickly grow into a lifelong hobby!

October at Tredethick means pumpkin fun! From the 11th, every family staying with us will find a pumpkin in their cottage perfect for some carving time together. And guess what? Our happy pigs are over the moon because every Thursday, they get to munch on your amazing carved creations as a special treat! With just two cottages left for 7 nights (Orchard and Searles) during half-term book now to make sure to get in on the fun! 🎃

“We could not speak more highly of Tredethick Farm Cottages, which is why we are booking to come back again next year.
The cottages are beautiful, excellently appointed and tastefully decorated. Everything you could need for your baby and toddler has been thought about.
The communication before your arrival is fantastic. The guide you receive in advance is really helpful in planning your stay to get the most out of it.
When you’re there, there’s so much choice of things to keep little people happy - happy little people = happy parents! And they have the attention spans of gnats, so the variety is most welcome!
I really loved that nothing ever feels over-crowded. There’s a good amount of space for the number of families present.
The farm shop is really useful.
The farm trail is a really lovely way to spend an hour.
But the soft play! Such a nice place to be able to relax and let them go… we loved watching them make new friends and build their confidence.
There’s nothing you won’t love about this place.
The staff are absolutely wonderful too. And, of course, all of the animals (especially Esme the cat who liked to help with bedtime!)
Thanks for giving us a truly brilliant and memorable holiday. We treasured the quality time as a family, most of all.

💕2023, what did we love about you? 💕 1) Watching our lambs race around the barn as they got stronger and skippier! 2) Rupert and Rollo, our Pygmy goat kids, who learnt to jump stiles and shimmy under gates. They are huge fun 3) Crystalline south coast water, beach breakfasts with family and friends 4) Dreamy sunset rides with pastoral views 5) Wildflowers and wisteria. Dreams for next year? So excited to plant a heritage orchard this spring 🍎🌳 Cornish apples, pears and plums as well as mulberries, walnuts and almonds. We’ll create a ‘wildflowers, winter food and walnuts’ trail so families can enjoy the wildflower meadow, winter bird food field and orchards with flowers, fruits and birdsong.
