We've been welcoming families (many again and again) to our farm for more than 25 years. We love seeing young children and toddlers make new friends and new discoveries - whether it's finding a freshly-laid egg or riding a velvet-n

osed pony. Seeing adults unwind and recharge is always rewarding too. That's because we provide ourselves on providing holidays that are as fun for little ones as they are relaxing for grown-ups.

✨ Happy New Year from all of us at Tredethick—Ashlyn, Jenny, Liz, John and the team! ✨
As the farm wakes up to the first morning of 2025, we’re looking forward to the gentle rhythm of the seasons that bring the year to life. From snowdrops and sharp frosts laced on windows to the earliest buds on conker trees and the first time we hear our lonely woodpeckers tapping out their call for spring mates!
Lambs will soon be arriving (always a treat for young visitors who enjoy bottle-feeding and cuddling our woolly friends)🐑

January is our time to take stock, spruce up and spring clean the cottages, and add a few thoughtful touches. John’s new little jockeys' station, complete with scales and a height chart, will add something new to pony time, while Granary’s twin bedroom is being refreshed with beautiful Susie Watson soft furnishings.

Winter on the farm has its own quiet charm—cosy cottages, crackling fires, hands-on animal time, and plenty of space and nature to explore. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back in February.

2024 at Tredethick was one for the books! Here’s a look back at our year:

🚜 January kicked off with Tilly the Tractor and cosy new Susie Watson soft furnishings for Hayloft, Dairy, and Wagonhouse. Oh, and we planted a whopping 200m of hedgerow 🌿 and a 53-tree fruit and nut orchard 🌳!
🐑 Our barn was bustling with lambs, ponies, pigs, and goats—our little farmers were kept VERY busy. Plus, we welcomed Jack, T***s, and Mr Snugs 🐾 while sadly saying goodbye to the legendary Atticus. Meanwhile, Seamus, the alpaca continues to steal hearts! 🦙
🌾 Spring brought the miscanthus harvest, and we celebrated Farmer Jenny’s big birthday 🎉 (plus a farmhouse tea party with Little Joe).
📸 Special shout out to artist Sally Chadwick and our lovely visitors Sophie Callahan and for capturing the farm’s magic.
🌼 From wildflower meadows to winter blooms, the farm’s beauty shone through the seasons.
And as always, our funny, friendly animals brought the laughs, love, and chaos we wouldn’t have any other way! 🐴🐓🐾

How is it almost 2025?!

Step into Tredethick’s beautifully converted Victorian barns, where every corner has a story to tell. Did you know the granite quoin stones at the corners of our cottages were salvaged from medieval buildings?

Here’s a glimpse into their past:
🏡 Liddicoat Cottage housed a grain mill (and even the farm bull in winter until 1992!).
🐄 Scantlebury Cottage used to shelter cows and is named after a family who lived here over 150 years ago.
🍶 Dairy Cottage transformed from a milking parlour and dairy into a cosy escape.
🐖 Hayloft Cottage kept its rustic charm, with a nod to its days as a hayloft and piggery.
🌾 Granary Cottage stored grain and even sheltered lambs alongside ewes in its earlier days.
🌟 When building Searles and Orchard, we discovered medieval pottery pieces connecting Tredethick to its ancient roots.

🧳 Now lovingly restored, our cottages combine rural charm with modern comforts, making them the perfect base for your family adventures.

Giddy up, pony-obsessed little ones! 🐴❄️ Whether it’s frosty mornings or crisp afternoons, our gentle ponies can’t wait to meet you!

Perfect for all young children, these lead-rein rides are a fun and memorable way to experience the charm of farm life in winter. Imagine your little ones, rosy-cheeked and grinning from ear to ear, as they enjoy time with our ponies, T***s and Little Joe. With plenty of snuggly layers and winter hats on, it’s a one-of-a-kind adventure to add to your stay!
Included as part of your visit, these gentle pony rides are perfect for tots, and there’s also the option to book a Pony Poppets session for even more pony fun. Don’t forget to check out our new Little Jockey’s station, too!

Planning a trip with little ones? We’ve thought of everything to make it as easy and stress-free as possible! Six of our eight cottages are stair-free, and for those with stairs, we’ve added stair gates for your peace of mind. Plus, we’ve got plenty of baby-friendly equipment ready for you – no need to over-pack. Just sit back and relax!

Escape the chaos and recharge where there’s space to breathe and reconnect. Kids can let loose in our soft play and parents, we’ve got you covered: our hot tub garden and indoor heated pool with countryside views are just what you and the little ones need to unwind before the hectic days of Christmas begin.
With a milder climate in Cornwall, it’s the perfect time to visit Cornwall’s gems like The Eden Project (don’t miss their ice rink!) or the enchanting The Lost Gardens of Heligan ✨ And when the day winds down? Snuggle up in one of our cosy cottages, hot chocolate in hand, with a log burner with homegrown logs crackling in the background.

Our bathrooms are notably lovely, so why don't we lead with them! Here's Hayloft cottage (sleeps 6)👉🏼

The spacious kitchen/living area has exposed beams and stonework, and a wood-burner in the fireplace. Cooks love the big kitchen with its granite worktops and welcoming table – a great place to chat and chop or for little artists to get colouring.

The double bedroom has a king-size bed – and an en-suite with a separate shower and Victorian roll-top bath (bubbles are recommended). There’s another bathroom, with a shower over the bath and two twin bedrooms.

Hayloft is one of our courtyard cottages, with its own garden space (including a beautiful fig tree).

This is Little Joe, our friendly 10hh miniature Shetland who’s been with us for 7 years (now a lively 12!)🐴

He’s given so many children their very first ride, and he’s always making new friends – tots, adults, and other ponies. He’s even been known to pop into the farmhouse every now and then! Life at Tredethick wouldn’t be the same without him. 💛

Tiny hooves, big adventures. Little Joe the Shetland pony made a surprise visit to the farmhouse kitchen today! 🐴🏡

💕2023, what did we love about you? 💕 1) Watching our lambs race around the barn as they got stronger and skippier! 2) Rupert and Rollo, our Pygmy goat kids, who learnt to jump stiles and shimmy under gates. They are huge fun 3) Crystalline south coast water, beach breakfasts with family and friends 4) Dreamy sunset rides with pastoral views 5) Wildflowers and wisteria. Dreams for next year? So excited to plant a heritage orchard this spring 🍎🌳 Cornish apples, pears and plums as well as mulberries, walnuts and almonds. We’ll create a ‘wildflowers, winter food and walnuts’ trail so families can enjoy the wildflower meadow, winter bird food field and orchards with flowers, fruits and birdsong.
