Yesterday we saw porpoises and that was rare. Today a kite flew past us at Scroby … this was unique! We’re assuming it escaped from someone at Great Yarmouth. Pretty amazing it kept aloft for nearly two miles.

A scheduled opening date for the Gull Wing Bridge aka Lake Lothing Third Crossing (LLTC) has been released as 5th September but is subject to change.

We don’t know yet if anything formal will be done as it was for the Herring Bridge at Great Yarmouth.

A couple of days ago we spotted a couple of seals with what appear to be trackers at Scroby.
We’ve done a bit of research and it appears they may have been tagged in the English Channel by La Rochelle University who are currently doing a study.
The second picture shows how far some tagged seals travelled in 2013.
Pretty amazing right?

☀️This week is getting very booked up with some lovely weather and sea conditions forecast.

🚢 If sea going isn’t your thing then we have a historic harbour tour going out tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10. See the wrecks of Lake Lothing and head under the Gull Wing Bridge.

🦭 seal watching availability is as follows:

Tuesday 13th - 1 seat at 12 and 1 seat at 3pm
Wednesday 14th - no availability
Thursday 15th - 4 seats at 3pm
Friday 16th - 1 seat at 12 and 7 seats at 3pm.

Why we think flying rings are a bad idea ☹️
I’m reasonably confident this is a seal that’s been saved by RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre.
Seems to be doing fine now thanks to them.
This was today.
[edit] Now I look at the picture closer I think I’m wrong, I think it’s still got netting or rope around its neck ☹️. Marine and Wildlife Rescue I’ll keep an eye out and let you know if I see it on the sand. Maybe we can get to it together.

Lovely trip from Peto Marsh to Worlingham Marsh for Suffolk Wildlife Trust. This is now my view whilst the passengers get a guided tour of Worlingham Marshes. On the way here we heard a bittern and saw cuckoos, marsh harriers, kingfisher, great egrets, swifts and lots more.

Not the worst place to wait for first trip of the day.

So far I’ve heard a blackbird, wren, chiffchaff, sedge warbler, cuckoo and a pigeon (guess which one of those I don’t need an app to tell me what it was 😏).
