With the rain and wind lashing against the window, it's hard to imagine ever wanting to sit out in the garden! The sun will come back.... one day!

We've been hard at work over the last month making a traditionally framed oak pergola for the garden.

It's pretty special to have been able to have used oak from our own woodland, just a few miles west of Ludlow, where our Cruckbarn holiday let (www.cruckbarn.co.uk) , is.

We had a few trees that were wind blown from storms in February 2022. With a few more we needed to thin (to make space to allow their neighbouring trees to grow bigger) we had enough to give us the beams for this pergola.

You don't get much more locally sourced and 'low miles' than that!

We can't wait for a celebratory drink or two sitting beneath it, admiring our handiwork!

As you wander through the streets and alleys of Ludlow you will notice the many architectural styles that give Ludlow it’s eclectic style, from the timber framed shops and houses dating back to its medieval origins to the stunning Victorian villas and town houses all huddled around the castle which dates back to 1085.

Ludlow’s historical castle sits high above the River Teme. Only a 2 minute walk from our rooms the castle and river make the perfect walk while you are staying with us, if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Otters that patrol the waters down by the weir. There are two bridges crossing the Teme easily accessible from the town, why not take a circular walk up to the splendid viewpoint across the river and back down crossing back via the other bridge at Ludford.

Keeping it in the family in the Kin way, Janet's brother has been capturing some stunning photos of our holiday let these last few days.

Up on a hill just 9 miles west of Ludlow it's the perfect spot for star gazing and lazy sunny mornings watching the ever changing valley view below.

And when you can drag yourselves away, there's Kin kitchen to tempt you with tasty coffee and cake or lunch time treats! We've thought of everything!

We have been busy adding the finishing touches to the last of our holiday let apartments above kin kitchen. All the images and video will soon on our website but here’s a little preview of the garden flat , it has been a labour of love that has taken almost 3 years but we hope that you agree it was worth all the hard work !

As well as being a talented chef it turns out Janet is a pretty good interior designer too. Her eye for detail in the kitchen transfers to the rooms above as you will see in the interiors she has designed upstairs.

Our Cruckbarn, our first "labour of love" project! Built entirely from scratch by us, using oak from the surrounding woodland. High on a hill it has fabulous views, and is peaceful and secluded. But only 20 minutes from Ludlow and Kin kitchen
