Today was a jolly for the young apprentice and his pals , and what a great day we had.
Due to the forecast we didn't leave until almost 11am and we stayed dry for most of the day.
Fishing was pretty good too.
Started with a quick couple of drifts to get some nice fresh bait , then anchor down and look out fish !
We had a steady stream of nice bream all day with biggest going 2lb 10oz , several congers to 25lb, 3 huss to 8/9lb and the usual suspects, after a live bait came up squidded, we had a quick go on the jigs and had a couple of squid for my tea!
Perfect day and main reason I keep doing my job.

I Have spaces this Tuesday on a 4 hour fishing trip and a 1 hour sightseeing trip before weather shuts us down again.

The last couple of days we had the pleasure of taking out the guys who got me into to the fishing lark.
Yesterday we went out to a wreck, a couple of nice po***ck on the drift then put the anchour down, a few nice bream and a ridiculous amount of congers. In 2/3 hours the 4 of us had non stop action, well over 50 all between 20 and 50lb.
After the guys had had there fill we popped back inshore and got on the bream, dozens of fish to 3lb and Pete had a cracking mackerel of 1lb 14oz.
This morning back out on the bream, lots of fish to about 3lb, mackerel ,dogs conger and a thorney ray.
Cracking couple of days fishing in unbeatable company.

We fished the lyme regis angling club open bream competition on Sunday along with 32 anglers fishing from 8 boats.
Hopes were high on susie b , due to a week of fantastic bream fishing with several specimens over 3.5lb .
Unfortunately it wasn't to be on the day , we caught over 200 bream between the 4 of us with fish to 2lb 11oz but I think we simply had too many fish under us for the bigger ones to get through the shoal of 2lber's. The young apprentice won the junior prize and 12th overall , I managed 5th, Stuart 7th and Bob 9th so not the worst result and a great day had by all .

Now the summer madness is over we are back doing more full and half day fishing charters.
Yesterday we had the boys from the Bristol channel down, a rather steady morning but a great afternoon on the bream although they were tricky to hook.
Today was just unbelievable, we had Andy and Pat down for there works outing and it was non stop action all day , within 2 minutes of the first bait going down we swung over a 2lb bream and it carried on like it that all day.
they caught well over 100 2lb+ bream, also a little thorney ray a couple of big huss, a few mackerel , half a dozen dogsand plenty of congers.

We have 2 spaces on a 4 hour trip tomorrow.

Tides can rapidly change and cut you off unexpectedly 🌊

Always check the tide times when you go to the coast and leave plenty of time to get to a safe place before the tide comes in.

In an emergency at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

After a couple of weeks of tripping and shorter deep sea trips we were back out on an 8 hour trip with Connor and family today.
The day started well with a successful quick stop to catch some mackerel for bait , we then popped out a few miles to convert them to some bigger fish.
Steady fishing in the morning with congers to 25lb , bull huss to 8lbs and a couple thornback rays.
On the second tide we switched over to breaming and had lots to just over 3.5lb ,we also had a couple of dogs, some scad , a red gurnard and a really nice tub gurnard.

It's been a good week for seeing the wildlife of Lyme Bay.
We saw the strange sunfish, seals and even had one in the harbour for a couple of days and although we havnt seen them in shore yet this week there have been lots of dolphins just offshore terrorising the shoals of bass.
The mackerel fishing has been a bit patchy some days but we are still getting a few and the fishing on the 3 hour deep sea trips has been great, 6' conger eels , bull huss, skate and lovely black bream which are perfect for the BBQ.

Well we have a new lucky mascot!
Harry came fishing with us today, first time on the boat, first drop and he catches a 7lb 4oz po***ck on his bream rig!! And he battled it like a pro!
The rest of the crew wernt jealous, much!
The bream were a little tricky on the first spot, with lots of bait stealing going on but we had enough for tea, then a quick move which provided some great and at times frantic conger action with fish around the 25lb mark.

We have been flat out this week with the nice weather.
We have met lots of lovely people and had several returning customers enjoying our sightseeing cruise , mackerel fishing and deep sea trips.
Fishing has been great with breaming well and truly red hot!
Today we had Tom and boys out for there monthly trip. Great day with the first few hours non stop action with big huss, bream to 2.5lb congers, skate and loads of scad with 13 species in total.
Highlight was spotting a sunfish who we snuck up on and had a really close look at.

Dropped them off and back out returning crew Adrian and family .
A pretty steady start but after a little move they were into the fish, conger to over 50lbs , bream pout and a little tub gurnard.

We fished the monthly Lyme regis sea angling club competition today in stunning conditions along with Pegasus, Blue turtle and 1 private boat.
Rays were the bonus fish , but just 7 were caught across the 4 boats , 3 of which were caught on Susie B.
We did our did our usual thing and fished for a variety of species including bream, congers mackerel , whiting and gurnard and this month we decided to spend quite a bit of time targeting the rays.

The fishing was steady all day except on the skippers rod! ( i blame the others for catching too many fish I had to net etc)
Turns out we did pretty well again and an extremely proud moment for me in that the young apprentice beat me in competition and about 25 other adults!
Overall Stuart came 1st ,Dempsey 2nd and I limped in at 4th .
Apparently I have to pull my finger out for a Susie B 1st 2nd and 3rd next time!
Cracking weather, great fishing and excellent company.

We had the wilkinson family out for there 2nd trip of the hols this time joined by Rab and Alan
The last trip mum had all the big eels and a lovely huss, this time it was Mai who showed them how to do it with lots of congers, bream and a cracking 15lb undulate ray , Girl power!!! Rab was hot rod to start but once Alan caught his 40lb eel he slowed down a bit ( jealousy???).
Dropped them off and back out for a 3 hour birthday treat trip, conger, bream, scad a couple of dogs and some pout
A lovely hour sightseeing trip and then back out for a 3 hour trip. The team found the fish a little tricky to hook but they all caught plenty in the end including a lovely red gurnard.

We were not working today while waiting for some equipment , so after transferring our trips to another boat and not to waste a lovely day I took the young apprentice and his pal out for a quick jolly.
Good fishing especially for such a small tide.
They each had loads of congers with the biggest about 40lbs, these were the main target with lots of of double hook ups, a few bream , big mackerel, scad, wrasse ,pout and a thorney ray.
And to finish the day what else would you do but pop into the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium to see the fish we hadn't caught.
Perfect day.
We will be back working from Tuesday weather permitting.

Back at it and back on the bream.
Yesterday we had a few sightseeing trips and an evening deep sea trip. Plenty of bream ,dogs, congers and I had a nice red gurnard.
Today we had the exmoor lads and lasses out, steady and rather choppy morning, a few too many pout, small bream, dogs, po***ck, mackerel and a bass but the the afternoon was flat calm and absolutely manic fishing lots and lots of bream to 3 lb , some monster mackerel, scad, gurnard and some small eels.
Great fishing and great company.

Last 2 days have been a little choppy at times but still plenty of fish for all.
We had a regular and much loved customer steve out with us Sunday morning with his family and neighbours , first fish was a 3.5lb bream! We had several more , some congers and a few mackerel.
Today we were on them again, we did have an unsuccessful drift or two for a plaice but when tide went round we were back on the bream, no really big ones today but there were loads under the boat we had plenty averaging about 1.5lbs, we also had a couple of mackerel, scad, a dog , 2 thornback rays and a big huss..

We have been having some great bream fishing the last couple of days.
Liam and crew yesterday , lots of good fish up to 3lb, also huss, skate, dogs ,and congers. Was great until we had a seal decide he wanted the fish under the boat more than we did!
South molton angling club today, again lots more bream to the 3lb mark, a few congers to 60 lb with 10 species in total.
Finished the day with a great 3 hour deep sea with everyone catching a few fish with bream, dogs, congers to 25lb, mackerel and a red gurnard.

Dolphins are back in town , we had them around the boat tuesday whist fishing and saw them on 2 of the 4 trips we ran yesterday, not very good pics or video I'm afraid!
We also had another session on the bream , also had bullhuss , congers and a few dogs.
We run scheduled 1 hour Sightseeing trips and mackerel fishing all through the year until October and 3-8 hour fishing trips.

A red hot day with red hot fishing!
We had a few dozen good size bream again today but there was much more fish feeding than fish catching going on!!
We also had a red gurnard, a few dogs, eels to 20lb , a couple of nice thorney rays half a dozen pout n poor cod and a little po***ck.
And we had dolphins come say hello.
Looking forward to the next trip already!
