There's no such thing as a normal week at Driving Miss Daisy Lymington, and this one is no exception. We regularly take clients to our wonderful local Lymington New Forest Hospital as well as Southampton General but this week we're also going to Royal Bournemouth, Christchurch Hospital and Spire Southampton!

Last Saturday the Driving Miss Daisy UK network gathered to celebrate its 10 year anniversary. Joined by the founders of the service from New Zealand, we were honoured to have Jack and Melanie Harper with us. Driving Miss Daisy Lymington was even more honoured to win the Community Impact Award!

It was a great event and lots of fun was had by all. A shout out to our amazing Customer Service Team at head office who organised everything and support all the Daisy Teams throughout the year. Thank you guys!

Yesterday our new Companion Driver Deborah took a lovely 91 yr old chap from Kingfishers Care Home to Southampton General Eye Unit. She stayed with him all the time, accompanying him to his appointment and helping him throughout.

This morning I had a wonderful call from the friend that had booked us to say he was over the moon with our service, felt so well taken care of and thought Deborah was worth her weight in gold.

That kind of feedback is why we do what we do and it means the world to hear how much it meant to this gentleman, what a relief it was for his kind friend who has been supporting him for many years, and how important our service is supporting the wonderful care homes in our community.

During the day, we have organised a programme of guest speakers to inform about specialist subjects of interest.

Today we helped get some of our clients to an activity group, the dentist and a funeral. I was able to spend a lovely hour with one of our regular Wednesday afternoon clients taking in the sun and the view at Lymington Quay, grabbing the last scraps of summer sunshine.

The fantastic team at Wetwheels Hamble will be back in Lymington on the 19th, 20th and 21st of September.

Earlier this year we helped some residents from Linden House in Lymington travel down to the marina and what a success it was! The absolute joy on all their faces when they arrived back on dry land was wonderful.

Don't miss the chance for a thrilling and fun filled boat trip on their fully accessible catamaran (please book directly with Wet Wheels).

Yesterday was quite a day for Driving Miss Daisy Lymington!

We drove a client over to the very smart Brewery Square redevelopment in Dorchester to visit her brother, and took another client and his son to the Rose Bowl to watch Middlesex play Hampshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

In the afternoon we took one of our regular ladies to her New Milton activity club and had a nice stroll and natter on the quay side at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club with another of our weekly clients. And to round off the outings, members of Pennington WI went over to visit Slowhayes Alpacas in Marchwood.

Enjoy an afternoon tea in a peaceful setting here at Slowhayes Alpacas. (vegan and gluten free option available) Meet our Alpacas, learn all about them , a great opportunity for photos and to feed them afterwards. This experience must be booked in advance. Gift vouchers also available.

We've passed the half way point in May.........Spring is flying by.

Lots of babies appearing all over the forest at the moment and these two handsome boys were in Minstead.

And today we finished the week with a family outing to Keyhaven where ice cream van "Milford-on-Ice" was on hand for a refreshment. Definitely warmer and a bit sunnier than the picture suggests!
