For its first-ever summer season in Europe, the Disney Dream will call on a wide variety of destinations among the most treasured in the world including the popular UK port of Southampton. I have dealt with this first hand in the past couple of weeks....but once you are away it is so worth it believe me ☀️ ✈️
As some of you will be heading away for the Easter holidays I'm sure you are concerned about the situation. It is very hit and miss depending upon which terminal and what time you fly.
Unfortunately, there is no magic wand for the current issues and Fast Track purchases for April have been suspended. Anyone with a pre-purchased fast track will be honoured.
The main issue is staff shortages within handling agents and also in security. However, passengers not knowing or following the rules is also adding to the issues.
There are a number of ways you can help make the process run as smoothly as possible:
🔹 Ensure you arrive in plenty of time. I would suggest currently 3.5 hrs prior to departure, longer for long haul flights. Also if flying with Jet2, they have now reopened their twilight check-in meaning bags 💼 can be dropped off by 8pm the night before your flight = you go straight through to security the following day 🛍 🍺 🥂
🔹CHECK IN ONLINE IF POSSIBLE 🎫(where the airline allows, I always check my customers in). Then you can just go to bag drop.
🔹Ensure your hand luggage is packed correctly.
❌No liquids 💧 gels, lipsticks 💄 or pastes of any kind. ❌
‼️If you have any they can be no more than 100ml and must be in a separate clear plastic bag‼️
❌No water bottles❌
Have this ready beforehand. Let’s help each other.
Nothing worse than standing behind someone who has to open and repack their hand luggage to do this 🙄 (it happens frequently)
🔹 Don’t wear belts or lots of metal jewellery, or remove them prior to security. Keep pockets empty wherever possible.
🔹 Don’t wear shoes with metal in the heels, soft shoes are best. Wedges, boots (and trainers) will need to be removed.
🔹 Phones, iPads, laptops, hairdryers, straighteners etc. have to go through separately so make sure they are easily accessible, or packed in your suitcase where possible.
🔹 Coats and jackets need to be removed, so get ready before you reach the security point.
🔹 There aren't any toilets when going through security so make sure you make a visit before, and plan for toilet stops for your children if in long queues.
Things should improve in the coming weeks as they start to re-open T3 and recruit and train more staff.
In the meantime, be prepared, be patient, and remember, the security staff on duty are doing their best in a poor situation.
Remember it's all worthwhile when you enjoy your holiday ☀️🍹✈️

“TRAVEL UPDATE All remaining Covid travel measures, including the Passenger Locator Form and tests for all arrivals, will be stood down for travel to the UK from 4am on 18 March. These changes are possible due to our vaccine rollout and mean greater freedom in time for Easter.”
