Well, we survived storm Ashley! What a wild time that was. Surprisingly little to show for it, apart from a few broken branches and general twig debris on the local roads, so that was a relief.

The last guests of this season are in this week, and that will conclude our 4th season as owners of Taigh Na Talia. Bookings have started rolling in for 2025, so if you're tempted, (and who wouldn't be?) don't dally!

This is a post-Ashley shot across Loch Morar with a "ray of sunshine" to brighten my morning.

Well, here we are on the eve of the 2024 season. What's new for this year? I hear you ask. Then I'll tell you!

With the wonderful views from the front of Taigh Na Talia, it seemed a shame not to have a proper place to sit out, have a drink or a meal and take in the ever changing glory of Morar Bay and the small isles, and the fantastic sunsets we tend to get here.

So we've splashed out a bit and now have a brand new, slightly elevated decking area to do just that. It's all complete but yet to have its oil preservative applied. It just needs a few days of warm, dry weather to thoroughly dry out first. We have had some lovely warm, sunny days but, sadly, not all together! I suppose that is a bit of a big ask for the Highlands in March!

Also, the lounge carpet was showing it's age due to being rather sun bleached (yes, still Scotland!) So there's now a new one, and a great improvement it is too.

Here are some photos taken this week to show the above, and some local shots.

Here we go again, Taigh Na Talia has the first guests of the season in this week. I hope all is to their satisfaction and the weather plays ball.

We had a great week there ourselves recently, making sure all was prepared and in order. We had a mixed bag of traditional Scottish weather but with ample opportunities to get out and about to enjoy this fabulous area's delights.

There is still some availability if you're tempted.

If the sound of this doesn't stir your blood, you've no soul! Or is that just for those of a certain age?

Another pleasant day so after a very nice lunch at "Sound Bites" in Arisaig we went for a walk along the Traigh beaches.

The weather is due to change later and we had half a blue sky with the leading edge of an approaching Atlantic front in the other half.

The result was an amazing light and variety of colours in the sky, with fine views to the small isles of Eigg and Rum under brooding lines of cloud but with Skye's Sleat peninsula and the Cuillins beyond in the clear.

Back at Taigh Na Talia, what better way to spend an hour than to watch another sunset over the Small Isles, soft music playing and a glass or two of a rather nice Merlot.

These photos were taken at intervals over one hour. What a magnificent firey spectacle it was too! You can never tire of this.

On the way back we took the pretty route via Arisaig to buy some provisions and decided to take a walk along Camusdarach beach, because you have to really! Fabulous views of Eigg, Rum and Skye (the Cuillins stood out clearly today).
