🎈9 YEARS 🎈

🥰9 years ago today we left our beautiful home and moved into (and then swiftly back out of 😂) the Station House with our toddler and newborn baby. Throw in one mega renovation, a third baby, the trials and tribulations that the pandemic delivered, and now a second mega renovation it is safe to say that the Station House is forever a part of our family and it has brought us all, and many guests so much joy, happiness and memories and it will continue to do so for many years to come.

❤️Happy 9 years of being in our lives Station House. So much more than just bricks and mortar, a building steeped in so much history and love. Here’s to the next 9 years 🫶🏻

It’s been a while since we did a proper update as we’ve been working so incredibly hard to restore our Station House but things are moving at a great pace! We’ve got the absolute best people with us pushing things along and these brighter spring days certainly boost morale and mean that the house is once again filled with laughter (and banter!). Where possible, we are making improvements on what was there before and we hope that soon the Heras fencing will finally come down after over two years of being in place and all will be revealed externally 🥰❤️

✨14 YEARS OF US✨

❤️Today is our 14th anniversary. We have achieved so much together, and experienced many highs and lows side by side, both of which have only served to make us stronger. With three wonderful children, wonderful family and friends, we are a force to be reckoned with and the last 19 months have tested us but here we are, still smiling whenever we can. Appreciating the small things, and most importantly appreciating and supporting each other throughout everything that has been thrown our way. We are a unit, and Lee is my soulmate.

✨This week we had another visit from another one of our regular guests. We are absolutely loving this and we welcome anyone who is passing to stop and say hello - it genuinely brings us so much joy to hear fond memories of stays.

🫶🏻SURPRISE VISITORS🫶🏻

😊Last week we were having a cheeky lunch break when two of our regular guests appeared at the gate while en route to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in Cornwall. It was the best surprise we could have hoped for and was yet another solid reminder about just how important our guests were to us. They took a detour on their travels to swing by and say hello which meant more to us than they will know and I certainly got a bit teary when they left because it was such a poignant reminder that people love the Station House just as much as we do and those walls contain so many wonderful memories for so many amazing people.

❤️Without them there wouldn’t be a Station House and without them we wouldn’t be so incredibly blessed with such a big, supportive network of our Station House family & friends. We miss you all immensely.

✨We are now awaiting the legally binding ruling from the Financial Ombudsman Service which will (hopefully) prevent insurers from continuing with their soul destroying games and tactics and will bring the whole insurance saga to a firm close allowing us to properly begin work and return to business with a super fresh look to deliver even more magic to the experience!

🌴MOTHER NATURE🌴

🥰For the past 17 months we have left the palm tree entirely undisturbed and her recovery has blown our minds! Mother Nature is truly an amazing force and these palm trees remind us to be thankful for everything we have. The palm tree was subjected to heat in excess of 700 degrees and the fire burned for four hours yet she did not give up - she came back even bigger and better than before!

✨If a plant can bounce back without any intervention then our continued battle with insurers to reinstate our beautiful property will come good in the end and we are so lucky to have the most amazing support network around us and our children give us reason to continue fighting the bitter and exhausting fight.

🚂A WHOLE LOT OF STEAM🚂

☺️Yesterday Lee did the Footplate Experience at Severn Valley Railway. A beautiful gift from his parents to celebrate his 40th birthday properly as it didn’t quite go to plan in March 2023!

✨It was an absolutely brilliant day out for all of the family and the children in particular loved that their dad was driving the train whilst we were passengers and we all enjoyed every second of it.

❣️We were lucky enough to see Tom supervising the engine driving, by day he is a driver for West Midlands Railway, who passes by the Station House regularly - it was really lovely to hear how much he loved passing the Station House when our guests were there and how much he enjoyed getting waves and interactions from our guests. All of the staff were so brilliant and we all had the best day packed full of memories! It was also lovely to be able to bring Lee’s Nanny along who shared her stories of steam travel from when she was the same age as our own children ✨

❤️Massive thank you to Lee’s parents for organising such a perfect day to properly celebrate Lee - he deserves it more than anyone after the past 18 months and it was really great to see him so happy 🥰

🎂8 YEARS 🎂

✨Today marks our 8th year of the Station House being a part of our family! Nearly a decade of being lucky enough to have such a beautiful Victorian house steeped in history! We will restore her to her former glory just as soon just as we are able to 🥂

🧑‍⚖️The outcome of the recent trial was a verdict of Not Guilty for Arson With Intent returned by the jury. Matthew Wright will remain in custody awaiting sentencing for the lesser charge of Arson with Recklessness - we can only hope that the justice system serves an appropriate sentence.

📑 We continue to battle through the insurance process and are more motivated than even to get the Station House looking like her old self again!!

✨Happy Friday ✨

🥰We had a really lovely recharge (child free 😂) weekend in Manchester a couple of weeks ago to visit my brother and his girlfriend who quickly proved that we are too old to party hard and then we returned home for our Easter Bunny duties and the Easter break with our little gang 🐰

🙃Following our weekend away, the trial was meant to start but no judge was available so we remained on notice and the trial began on Tuesday of this week (small hiccup in that Matthew wasn’t actually transported from prison to court on that day - if you don’t laugh you’ll cry!!) so we returned on Wednesday and yesterday to hear the trial. The jury will hopefully make their decision at the beginning of next week and we can finally move on from that sorry situation and focus our efforts and energy entirely on the insurance battle to get our beautiful house back to her former glory (but even better!)

👩‍⚖️TWO WEEKS TO GO👩‍⚖️

🗓️Over a year since the arson occurred we still have little progress with the slow turning cogs of insurance procedures but the trial is in two weeks time now and that will be a huge thing ticked off the list - and I still remain ever hopeful that we will get some of the answers that we both need to be able to move forward with more ease!

👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏼In the lead up to the trial we have our first night away without the children and we are so looking forward to that - it will have been 390 days since we last had a break so I think we deserve it at this point 😂

👨‍🎨Our creative ideas and visions for return to business keep flowing and we are so ready to get back up on our feet again and welcome guests back to our beautiful house again in the future ❤️

💁🏼‍♀️INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY💁🏼‍♀️

I don’t usually do self-appreciation posts so this is new territory but in the past twelve months I have truly shown my worth as a strong woman - predominantly in the form of a human shield to protect my family from the upset caused by the fire. I have kept the wheels turning at home, tried to maintain normality for our children, tirelessly fought our corner in the insurance process (a full time job in itself with no end in sight!) and ridden with my head held high above all the drama thrown ouy way.

Picking up the pieces is never an easy job and I have 💯 put myself to the bottom of the pile for the last twelve months but when you’re a partner, a mother, a friend and self-employed time management is a real struggle even before something as sinister as arson is thrown into the mix.

Happy international women’s day to every single woman I know - all an inspiration to me and an invaluable support network who have been there for me on the low days and shared in the small victories we’ve had. I hope you all know I’m always there for you too.

🎂HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEE🎂

💖Not too sure what to say this year as it’s a bit of a tricky time of year for us all now but I know one thing for certain; we will be a solid team for many more birthdays to come and will continue to surround ourselves and our children with people who have the kindest hearts 🥂

✨Happy Birthday Lee - the most wonderful partner and dad. We are so proud of him - he will be mortified at this post 😂 but he’s had a rough emotional ride this past year and he’s come out the other side fighting fit and stronger than before when it would have been so much easier to have walked away.

What a difference 365 days makes. Still battling on through the insurance process; still standing strong together and looking to the future. It’s been nearly a year since the fire happened; and nearly a year since Lee hit the big 40 just the day before the fire happened. We’ve learnt a lot in the past year - mostly how each of us deals with extreme stress, upset and pressure 😂 but we’ve done it together and that’s something we know we can be really proud of!

New trial date set for April - it has become a bit of a gamble as to whether the work will commence first; or the trial will take place first! Either way we will eventually get back to where we were before 💖

Happy Monday - be grateful for absolutely every tiny thing and everyone you have surrounding you ✨
