So I'm a bit behind with my posts and hopefully I can get back on track.

21 in the forbes top 50 is NORWAY.

So when you think of Norway what is the first thing that comes to mind? Comment below.

Is it? The amazing Fjords, northern lights, the wildlife or something completely different.

So the most famous Fjord is Trolltunga located on the western edge, but there are many to choose from like Sognefjord, Nærøyfjord, Lysefjord, and Geirangerfjord.

The best location for northern lights hunting in Norway is considered to be Tromso, but there are other locations to get a good view. Probably the best way to get the most out of them is with a guided tour.

The amazing Wildlife such as Polar bears, Artic fox, Reindeer, walrus and even Wolves.

This is such an amazing place for Outdoor activities Skiing, Hiking, Cycling and Kayaking being the most obvious why not try something completely different with Ice fishing on a frozen lake.

Pyramidal saxifrage is the national flower and is a stunning red and white in colour.
The warmer months are June, July August to take in the mountain beauty and do the trails viewing nature in comfort.

This is one place to visit for any of the above and really should be taken seriously.

So here we go again with the Forbes top 50 at 22 is Argentina.

The name derives from the Latin word for Silver, it is believed that conquerors chose the name when they came to mine it.

The National drink is Yerba Mate and this is shared around friends, there is some etiquette around this drink so make sure you look it up before visiting. The leafy drink has to be drunk from a bombilla which is a straw that has a filter on it. It even has it’s own celebration day on 30th November.

The flag was adopted in 1812, four years before Argentina won its independence from Spain. It is a light blue and white triband, the colours of which were chosen by the leader of the Argentine revolution, Manual Belgrano. It represents the parting of a blue sky to reveal white clouds. The yellow sun which features on the centre of the flag is known as the ‘Sun of May’ which represents the Incan god of the sun, Inti. The May part of the name refers to the May Revolution which marked the start of the independence movement from the Spanish Empire.

Home of the Tango one of the most famous Latin American dances known for its passion and intensity. Originated in the capital Buenos Aires.

It is pretty much impossible to talk about Argentina and not mention football. After all, Argentina are regular World Cup contenders (having won the tournament twice) and have also produced some of the world’s best footballers. Government officials banned parents from naming their children Messi in the football star’s hometown. Lionel Messi has inspired millions across the world and nowhere more so than in his hometown of Rosario in Argentina. After resident Héctor Varela named his son after the soccer star, government officials banned parents from naming their children after Messi, worrying about confusion later down the line if the name was to become too fashionable.

The first ever use of fingerprinting for identification occurred in Argentina in 1892. After a mother had murdered her children.

Just over the half way mark at 23 – Grenada
The oval shaped island 12 miles long and 12 miles wide but has so much going for it.

It has the first underwater sculpture park which you can see from snorkelling but much better to go scuba diving and there are tours you can do with this.

The Island is also known as the Island of Spice. A ship travelling to England stopped and planted some nutmeg trees, this is now a major export for the country. It also appears on the flag.

The Grenada dove is the national bird and is endemic to the island.
It is included on the critically endangered list with only less than a hundred believed to be in the wild. Also nesting there is the Leartherback turtle which is also crtically endangered as only 1 in 1000 hatchlings can survive to adulthood.

The Grand Anse beach is a fabulous long curve of soft, white sand, shaded by sea grapes, almond trees and palms.

The Grand Etang National Park in the interior of the island offers some beautiful rainforest scenery and rewarding hikes. The famous Etang Lake is the most popular spot here. There are many trails to explore and plenty of waterfalls to jump in.

The Belmont Estate has the house of chocolate where you can find out what their process is, like a Grenada Cadbury world.

Palm Beach gardens has the magnificent appreciation of nature with truly amazing flourishes.

Want to join the carnival then the best time to go is 2nd week in August with activities and parties happening. There will be lots of costumes Soca and Calypso music and dancing in the streets.

At 24 is Malaysia.
One of Malaysia’s most popular island destinations is Langkawi; complete with pristine white sand beaches and lush rainforests making for a tropical paradise.

Capital is Kuala Lumpur is home to colonial buildings, busy shopping districts such as Bukit Bintang and skyscrapers such as the iconic Petronas twin towers. Just outside of the capital you have the Batu Caves a 400-million-year-old limestone hill with a temple inside and is famous for its vibrant colours.

The most impressive National Park is Gunung Mulu and is home to Mount Mulu famous for its rigid pinnacles and razor-sharp rocks that seem to jut out of nothing it makes for a landscape that is simply mindbending.

It is home to the unique Malayan Tiger 🐱 which is now an endangered species as only 350 exist in the world. They also have the largest population of King Cobras 🐍

Shoe designer Jimmy Choo was born in Malaysia.

The Malaysian state of Kelantan ordered in 1997 that lights would no longer be switched off in movie cinemas, to prevent people from cuddling and kissing.

Chinese Malays are known for visiting graveyards in the dead of night, bearing offerings for the dead in the hope of receiving lucky lottery numbers from them. * Think I might have to try this, but then again I’m a bit of a coward and the thought of going in a graveyard at night doesn’t appeal.

So at the half way mark of the Forbes top 50 most beautiful places is TONGA
Tonga is made up of over 170 islands spread across an area of the Pacific Ocean approximately the size of Japan only 36 are inhabited. In 2014 a new island called Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai was created in Tongan waters after an underwater volcano 🌋erupted.

Tonga’s flag has a cross of red as a symbol of the deep-rooted Christian religion in the country. The red in the flag represents the blood that Jesus shed at his Crucifixion and white signifies purity.
Captain James Cook referred to Tonga as the ‘Friendly Islands’ because the indigenous people gave him and his crew a warm welcome, he visited 3 times.

Tonga is a deeply conservative Christian country and completely shuts down on Sundays when it strictly observes the Sabbath.

It is illegal for men and women to be topless in a public place.

The ‘flying fox’, a large fruit bat with a wingspan of up to one meter, can only be found in Tonga.

Tonga is home to the South Pacific’s equivalent of Stonehenge. The mysterious Ha’amonga ‘a Maui (Maui’s Burden) splits opinion with some archaeologists saying it was built by Tu’itatui, the 11th Tu’i Tonga, while others say it was built by ancient Chinese explorers.

26 is – IRAN
The people are Persians and Persian/Farsi not Arabic like most middle eastern countries.

Iran follows their own calendar based on the solar system. The first day of the year is the first day of spring and it is called Nowrouz. The first 6 months have 31 days, the following 5 months have 30 days and the last month normally has 29 days but 30 days in leap years. A weekend to them is Thursday and Friday which is when offices close.

Summers in the country are brutally hot while the winter is on equal extremes in freezing cold. The northern cities also have common snow during low-temperature dips.

A thumbs up is really bad in Iran it’s the same as holding up your little finger so be careful what your hands do.

When they talk to friends or family members they would say phrases like “Ghorbunet Beram” or “Fadat”, which mean ”I will sacrifice myself for you”, but we don’t really mean it. Sometimes we want to show our love but some other time they just use it to end a conversation in a polite way. When offered something from your host it is always polite to refuse first and accept on the second offer. They also will ask you to stay longer (but might not mean it) you should say “no thanks it’s getting late” if the offer keeps coming then you should ask if this is Taarof or not.

Pahlevani and Zoorkhanei rituals are one of the ancient traditional sports in Iran. The sport was traditionally used to train warriors.

The English term ‘paradise’ originated from a Persian word which means ‘enclosed garden.’

27 is – St Vincent and the Grenadines
Located in the Caribbean. There are 32 Islands that make up St Vincent and the Grenadines but only 9 are inhabited and offers a combination of rain forests, sandy beaches, scuba diving and yachting or sailing adventures.

Tobago Cays is in the Southern Grenadines and is home to the Marine Park established to protect the sand-bottom lagoon that includes the five Tobago Cays, the uninhabited island of Mayreau, and the four-kilometres long Horseshoe Reef. The reefs are home to 225 fish species.

Nature lovers can hike the Vermont Trail running through the central forest reservation. With majestic cliffs and sweeping valleys whilst viewing tropical tress and plants.

Located at the foot of LA Soufrière Volcano of St Vincent is Dark View Falls. A hike from the parking lot to the falls is only about 15 minutes of an easy walk, then over a natural bamboo bridge that crosses the tumbling river to get to the falls. It is an adrenaline-pumping adventure, but it is well worth it. The pools below the falls are wonderful for a cooling swim.

The national Bird is the Amazona Guilsdingii and is commonly known as the Saint Vincent Parrot which isn’t suprizing from the look of it.

The hit franchise Pirates of the Caribbean shot multiple scenes from their first 3 instalments in this country!

The breadfruit is not only a key ingredient to the staple diet of the country but also considered by many locals to be an intrinsic part of its identity.

So many small Islands to visit and so much beauty to take in.

Number 28 is - St Kitt and Nevis
A place to visit. The shoreline ranges from steep cliffs to fine white sandy Caribbean and curious black volcanic sand, while the lush rainforest is rich in tropical flora and fauna. Old plantation houses, beautiful beaches, lush vegetation, and historic towns like the capital Basseterre make a visit to St. Kitts and Nevis a true delight.

At Fairview Great House the gardens surrounding the mansion are filled with tropical greenery, flowers and Monkeys🐒 . The national flower is the Royal Poinciana which is actually a tree and when in full bloom looks amazing with its beautiful red fiery flowers.

The Circus is the main area of Basseterre (which is the capital) was created after the “Great Fire” which destroyed the town in 1867, like the great fire of London. Funny enough when rebuilt it was designed to resemble Piccadilly Circus in London.

What to do while your there? There is St Kits food Tours with its favorite treats, taverns, markets, beach bars and local eateries or there is the chocolate and rum factory tour, plus many others. If this is not your thing and you are a but of an adrenaline ju**ie then the water sports🏄‍♂️ such as kitesurfing, paragliding or stand up paddleboarding are on offer to.

Meeting Dolphins🐬 here is in their natural environment not a pool or aquarium giving you a truly better experience.

If you're after some culture, then there is the Cottle church and scenic Railway. For a small island there seems so much to do and definitely a place to visit.

And 29 is – Chile
The Oldest mummies in the world were found here and are from the Chinchorro tribe of Atacama Desert. These date back to 500 and 3000 BC meaning they were mummifying 2000 years before the Egyptians. The Atacama Dessert is also the driest on Earth as they only get 0.6 inches of rain fall a year and scientist have used this harsh desset terrain to mimic conditions found on Mars.

The largest earthquake ever recorded happened in Valdivia 1960 registering at 9.5 and killing around a 1000 people.
The Conguillio National Park is home to one of the largest and most active Volcanoes in the country called Llaima. While the Rapa Nui National Park is home of the renowned Easter Island as it was discovered on Easter day, has 887 moai statues.

Chile has the world’s largest swimming pool it is the length of 20 Olyimpic sized pools, which holds 66 million gallons of water and is in the Guinness book of world records.

Let’s brighten things up a bit with the Lapageria Rosea which is the National flower of Chile and is an award winner. It was brought over to the UK in the 1950’s.

It produces a distinctive fruit in the form of a long berry which is edible.
It is believed that the Potatoe originated from here with 286 unique varieties.

This looks like an amazing place to visit.

In 30th place – China
Some interesting facts on China. They span 5 different geographical time zones but has only one time zone (standard Chinese time), and border 14 countries by land.it is the worlds 3rd largest country by total land area.

Ice cream wasn’t invented in Italy but n China 4000 years ago.

Football was also first invented here. The world's first ball was a leather ball filled with feathers and hair and the game was called Tsu’Chu’ which means kicking ball. Yet they have never won a world cup because they either did not enter or did not qualify.

The Elderly have a law and if they are over 60 it's illegal not to visit them regularly.

The New year celebrations last for 15 days the first day falls on the new moon so it differs from year to year. There is no sharing of the celebrations on Facebook as it was banned from China in 2009. Fortune cookies were not invented in China and are not a Chinese custom, they were invented in San Fransisco.

The National animal of China is the Giant Panda whilst the numbers of these bears is slowly increasing it remains one of the rarest and most endangered bears in the world and has been a symbol of WWF since it’s formation in 1961.

Tonight is 31 – Samoa

Is 2 small islands in the south pacific ocean and is said to be Polynesia homelands but is an independent nation.

Best time to visit is between June to September when it is around 28˚ and very pleasant.
Sea turtles are seen regular in the lagoons and Dolpins🐬 Whales🐋 and Porpoises can also be seen in the surrounding reefs.
The national bird is the Manumea also known as the Tooth-billed Pigeon.

Famous people from here are Dwayne “the Rock”Johnson, and Robert Louis Stevenson.

Tattooing is a big business in Samoa. Waist to knee tattooing is a rite of passage for men because of the excruciating pain it causes and they use handmade tools which means it can take up to 2 weeks, and those who are being tattooed must be accompanied. A man with a traditional tattoo will rise up in the village ranking and earn respect and perhaps chief status later in life, but an unfinished tattoo brings shame on his family.

Men also prepare the Sunday dinner known as Umu this is a unique experience that still takes place all around Samoa

at 32 in the forbes top 50 – Bolivia

Located in South America and is land locked between Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

La Paz is the highest city in the world sitting above meters and you may get altitude sickness.

You can cycle down the worlds most dangerous road - The North Yungas Road but you do need to be a bike ju**ie to even attempt it as it has claimed more than 300 lives.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia’s famous salt flats, is home to the largest salt deposit in the world, salt flats in the wet season is a must see as a few short weeks every year, the surface water turns the salt flats into the world’s largest mirror!

Flamingos can be found in the Bolivan Andes and can be seen close to the salt flats. Pink Dolphins swim in the Bolivia Amazon and are an endangered species.

You may come across a sight that you might not like but it is a real life witch market that sell a hole range of weird and wonderful things.

The red of the flag is said to represent the blood spilt by brave soldiers during the fight for independence from the Spanish. The yellow stands for the country’s mineral deposits and the green symbolises agriculture and fertility.

So I've not posted for a few days as I've been unwell so I have some catching up to do so apologies for this.

at 33 is Nicaragua
Set between 2 bodies of water the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea and 2 countries Honduras and Costa Rica.
It is most famous for Lake Managua and the iconic stratovolcano Momotombo which last erupted in 1610.
Did you know the street in Nicaragua have no names – reminds me of the U2 song 🎵 ”where the streets have no name”
🍈🍊🍎 Sapodillas is the national fruit and is served as an after-dinner fruit as they are very sweet.
The local people call themselves Nicas, but most outsiders refer the people as Nicaraguans. Most people are mestizos, or natives and Spanish combined.
The national flower is known as the sacuanjoche. The flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them.
Animals that you can find there are Pumas, Jaguars, various Monkeys 🐵, Crocodiles 🐊, snakes🐍 and turtles🐢

Sorry for not posting yesterday but this is at 38 – Thailand

This is one place I certainly want to go to.

Known for it tropical beaches opulent Royal Palaces, ancient ruins and temples displaying Buddha figures.

Capital is Bangkok. Do you remember the film Bangkok Hilton with Nicole Kidman?

Thailand is currently experiencing prolonged periods of rain and at risk of flash floods. Although this time of year is normally the best to go between November and April. With the temperature being the highest in March/April.

Elephants are the national animal of Thailand as they represent STRENGHT, LOYALTY and LONGEVITY

Siamese twins was inspired by brothers Eng and Chang who were joined at the chest. They died in 1873.

Thai boxing is the national sport (obviously) and is over 2000 years old, the majority of fighters start training in elementary school.

AT 40 – EL Salvador
Part of Central America and is known as the land of Volcanos because it has more than 100 and around 20 are potentially active.

It has an area of 21,000 sq km which is about the same size as Wales.

Capital is San Salvador is the oldest and most long standing capital and was founded in 1524. With the main population being of Indian and Spanish influences.

It is a surfer’s paradise 🏄‍♂️ with some of the biggest and longest waves offered by the Pacific Ocean. Punta Roca and Punta Mango are the best areas and wet season is between May and October.

Playa El Tunco has some of the best sunsets in the world.

Once the 4th largest coffee producer in the world and farmer’s grow the most sought after varieties.

Chicken buses cost $1.00 per hour of travel and the music is so loud you have to shout to have the person sat next to you hear you.
