📣 📣 This week's Movers and Shakers spotlight is on you 👉 Ben Crennell

👉 In Ben's words "it has been an explosive 2 years already within the OtB family! We have gone through loads of different scenarios with our fellow beach seekers, from mother nature to the fact that nobody can look after the dog whilst they are away! You name it, I have dealt with it within the service team!"

👉 Ben recently had the opportunity to apply to go to Turkey with the marketing team, helping us create great content. Searching for the best of the best that Turkey can bring allowed Ben to get involved in things he is passionate about, that being social media and travelling.

👉 Ben's highlights in his words:
"Where do I start?! The Turkey content creators’ trip was out-of-this-world for me. I got a taste of what our customers see when they arrive, a taste of travelling before they book, and film the places that they may want to go to. I realise that the more that our beach seekers see, the more they want to have a taste of it themselves, especially if they wished to go to one of the Titanic hotels in Turkey. My personal fave is the Titanic Lara Beach – Wow, what a stunning place to be.

Now I have had this first-hand content creator skill, and then coming back within the marketing fold, to edit and publish the work that we have done out in Turkey, I know we are giving more to our beach seekers than any other online travel company. We show them what they will see, give them a taste of what we have ventured into, and a tour of the resort. More like a try before you buy!!! I don’t believe there is any other company out there like us. You see the passion inside when you see what we have created for Turkey. This has been one major highlight for me, more than you can shake a beach towel at!"

Michael is celebrating 10 years of service with us and for that we are extremely grateful to Michael for his time, energy and commitment to On the Beach.

📣 📣 Our On the Beach Movers and Shakers Spotlight this week is firmly on you 👉 Kateryna Kaminska 🙌 🙌

Kateryna joined OTB as a Software Engineer in the Flights team in June 2022 as she moved to the UK because of the war in Ukraine where she is from. Kateryna's efforts have been recognised with a promotion in June. It means a lot to us that Kateryna is sharing her story and her success... Over to you Kateryna 🙌 🙌

👉 I used to work as a tester earlier but my big dream was to develop software, so I was shocked and surprised when I got a job offer. It's worth mentioning that I wished to work at OTB since my final interview because of the people by who I was interviewed. So friendly, professional, and supportive, people who believed in me even with my lack of experience. They stole my heart at that moment! ❤

👉 And now, it's a little bit more than a year of my journey with OTB and without any doubt I can say it's the best that happened to me since I had to leave my country and all my previous life. I learn new programming languages and frameworks and work with new technologies and amazing people who are always ready to teach and support me helping me to become more professional. I appreciate it a lot!

❓ What are your highlights/ the best bits of your time with OTB?
It's definitely people, the possibility to grow and their combination together! With OTB I always have opportunities to try new technologies and languages, discover new approaches to development within my team or cross-team projects and be sure I'll always get help if it's needed. I might never stop saying how much I'm happy to evolve in such a pleasant environment!

❓ Advice for someone wanting to progress within tech?
- Always be curious to know and learn something new, it's not a sphere where you can stop studying.
- Be ready for failures, you can't avoid them. And, actually, they help to grow faster.
- Be passionate about what you're doing! Choosing the right company helps with it a lot because it's much easier when you share the same virtues and look in the same direction.

📣 📣 Our On the Beach Movers and Shakers Spotlight this week is firmly on you 👉 Joseph Spillane 🙌 🙌

Joseph joined the Extras team as a Senior Software Engineer in May 2021 to build the new checkout journey. He then moved to Ancillaries to produce the Lounge & Fast-Track booking solution. He is now the Engineering Team Lead for the Postbook team, which was founded to start directly addressing customer issues after they’ve placed an order.

👉 Highlights:
Having a great team! Collaboration is key when it comes to getting work done, and it feels like my team is borderline telepathic. Whether it’s working through new tech solutions with other engineering teams or addressing customer issues with our colleagues in the Contact Centre and Marketing, it’s been great to work in such a collaborative environment.

👉 Advice for someone wanting to progress within tech:
Knowing a programming language can only get you so far. It’s how you utilise your skills to solve the key issues that the business is facing that will get you further. Get involved in discussions, ask the right questions and don’t be afraid to get it wrong.

📣 📣 Our On the Beach Movers and Shakers Spotlight this week is shining on you 👉 Laura Eddleston.

👉 Laura is one of our superstar boomerangs, heading off to see the world and always coming back to us to continue her career journey.

👉 Laura started her On the Beach career in Jan 2014 in the Customer Booking Support team. From there she's done stints as an after-hours In Resort Agent, Sales Agent, Senior Sales Agent, CBS Team Leader, Sales Team Leader, and now currently the Sales and International Contact Centre Manager.

❓ What are your highlights/ the best bits of your time with OTB?
To be honest, there’s not been much that hasn’t been a best bit. I’ve enjoyed all the roles I’ve done. I’ve never had to clock watch here at OTB, which I did every second of every other job I’ve had, so I think that sums it up quite nicely.

❓ Your favorite holiday location?
It’s not one we do yet (wink wink Long Haul team) but Hanoi in Vietnam. It’s got everything you could want in it, or not far from it. Some of the best days of my life were spent in Halong Bay!
