Today, I’ve brought you to St Mary the Virgin Church Prestwich and I meet up with my friend Alan Jennings, who gives guided tours of the church and along with a group of volunteers keeps the graveyard tidy.
The church dates back to the 1500’s and is known as the Coronation Street Church and many scenes from the longest running soap opera in The World are filmed here, we have also found another showbiz connection, one of Hollywood Royalties ancestors are buried in the graveyard…

Greater Manchester is a fascinating region, with many different areas and aspects.
In the Bury area to the North of Manchester is an area called Tottington.
Henry Wood was born here in 1603 and after being imprisoned for religious and political reasons, Henry aged 80 went to America and founded the City of Woodbury, NJ .

The 6th February is always a sad day in Manchester, as we remember The Busby Babes. I pay my respects at the grave of Sir Matt Busby who survived the air crash and guided Manchester United to win the European Cup in 1968. #manchestertaxitours #manchesterunited

Family Heritage Taxi Tour

February 6th the anniversary of the Munich Air crash, when 23 people die, including 8 of The Busby Babes the young Manchester United players who had been playing in Europe. I’m in Weaste Cemetery paying my respects to Eddie Colman and the other players and passengers who died. Many thanks for watching.
