** Important travel update for anyone travelling to the UK! **

FROM TODAY the new UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system is mandatory for travel to the UK for non-European nationals.

For European nationals, applications open March 5, 2025, and the ETA requirement will become mandatory from April 2, 2025.

ETA Can Be Used For:
* Stays of up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business, or short-term study.
* Stays of up to 3 months on the Creative Worker visa concession.
* Permitted paid engagements or if you are transiting through the UK (even if you won't go through UK border control).

What's Not Allowed with an ETA:
* Staying in the UK for more than 6 months
* Paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person (unless it's a permitted paid engagement or on the Creative Worker visa concession)
* Claiming public funds or benefits
* Frequent or successive visits to live in the UK
* Getting married or registering a civil partnership

It costs £10 to apply, and everyone travelling needs to apply for one, including babies and children.

The ETA can be applied for via a mobile app or online portal. You will need your passport, access to email, a payment method and to upload/take photo of your passport and your face.

The process typically takes 3 days, but we recommend applying well ahead of travel to avoid last-minute issues.

Who's got Vietnam on their bucket list?

I've just had clients return from a fabulous 15 day tour around Vietnam, staying in 5 different locations from the French inspired capital Hanoi to the picturesque countryside of Ninh Binh, before sailing around the limestone rocks and islands of Lan Ha Bay. The couples then went onto cultural Ho Chi Minh before hitting the white sand beaches of Phu Quoc.

The trip was extra special as one of the couples were celebrating their honeymoon, so I was thrilled to receive lovely feedback.

Just to thank you for arranging a fantastic trip for us to Vietnam.
From start to finish everything was organised perfectly. Our tour guides were excellent and all transfers and trips were on time and of a high standard. All hotels were perfectly situated and of a high quality.

We loved the motorbike trips around Hanoi and Saigon, the trip down the Meakong delta, the Ha long bay cruise, and the resort on the beach at Pho Quoc was the icing on the cake!

As part of their trip I wove in a number of fun activities from an evening traditional puppet show and vespa bike ride through the city backstreets to exploration of the Viet Minh Cu Chi War Tunnels. From a street food tour and visits to local villages and artisan workshops, to boat trips and walks round ancient temples and bamboo forests, they really did experience it all!

I've toured around Vietnam myself and its the perfect country to also twin with Cambodia or another S.E. Asian country.

Wow what a weekend!

Amazing 3 days spent working "on" my business rather than "in" my business at the Travel Counsellor Annual Conference in Manchester.

This was our 30th anniversary, so over 2,000 of us from 6 different countries gathered to learn, engage and celebrate.

When you're self employed and running your own small business, work never really stops, so it was great to reconnect with my fellow TC's and discuss the highs and lows.

Over the course of the weekend I met with over 250 of our travel partners from all over the world and heard the latest ground breaking updates from our Head Office team - there's some great technology upgrades due to be implemented.

The highlight was the fantastic line up of global, inspirational keynote speakers including:
* Mo Gawdat (Egyptian Ex Chief Business Officer for Google, best selling author on AI and happiness)
* Jo Malone CBE (Iconic British Perfumer and founder of Jo Malone)
* Nile Rodgers (Multi Award Winning US Musician, Songwriter & Producer)
* Sara Davies (UK Entrepreneur, TV personality, Dragon on Dragon's Den)
* Bruce P**n Tip (Canadian businessman and founder of G Adventures) * Tom Cheesewright (UK Applied Futurist)

I’ve had a lot of amazing meals during this trip but Irth Boutique and Cafe was hands down the best. Launched by the Culinary Arts Commission and situated in a 120 year old building in the old town, the restaurant celebrates young Saudi Arabian chefs. Traditional dishes are given a modern twist and the flavours were off the charts! 🇸🇦

The Central Fish Market, Jeddah - fun walk around seeing all the different and colourful varieties of seafood, some of which are only available in the Red Sea. There’s even a large area where you can get the fish prepared how you want after purchase 🇸🇦

The Blessed Grave of Hazrat Hamza along with 70 Shaheeds of Uhud War lies next to Mount Uhud. Known as the “Lion of Allah” he was the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad and a formidable warrior. During the Battle of Uhud in 625 CE he unfortunately met his martyrdom and is remembered and revered by Muslims as helping to shape Islam in its formative years. ̇slam

The ancient Kingdom of Daden dates back to the 1st millennium BC and was once on of the most developed communities in the whole of the Arabian peninsula. The main highlight are the Lion Tombs set up high on the cliff face. Archaeologists are slowly starting to work on uncovering the lower lying land and have already uncovered various buildings and statues 🇸🇦
