Did you know that bumble bees do not fly unless temperatures are above 10 degrees centigrade, so the Snowdrop has adapted, the outer petals will only open wide when the temperature rises above 10 degrees, protecting its nectar for the buzzing bees 🐝🐝🐝🐝

Tomorrow -Friday - we'll be in Middleton-By-Wirksworth and on Saturday we'll be in Lea at the Coach House.

Serving from 5pm, preorders before 4pm most welcome.

The pub cannot reopen until after the weekend… meaning the hen racing has been put back - one last time 🙄 - to

SATURDAY 21st AUGUST 🎉 1pm

After lengthy consultation with local authorities, we cannot hold it this Saturday… So sorry to mess anyone about, believe me, we’d of rather cracked on with it this weekend, but hey ho..

So… I’m calling in all the love & support out there for this special little pub (again 😊) and asking you to either come along to the hen racing, or share this like mad… or both! 😎

There will be loads of Thornbridge ale, cask cider, food all day, live music, a few TV crews, and as many egg and hen based puns as I can manage….

Thanks for you patience with this, we are, like other hospitality venues, we are completely at the mercy of the Track & Trace system.

A great local “to do list”

Greetings from a very warm Derbyshire! Phew it’s 🥵

I’m getting lots of calls and messages which is brilliant so I thought I would just clarify about our summer opening.

We will be open from Thursday this week, every day through the school holidays (weather permitting 🤞)

We open at 10.30 to 4.30
It’s £5 a boat (max 3 people in a boat - not per person)and £1 on our handsome Little David 🚂🚂

The toilets in the play area are open

We have duck feed, dog water and biscuits, great staff and lots of friendly smiles.

If you haven’t been before we would love to see you and make you welcome.

And if you have time why not take a stroll round the great range of independent shops and see what Matlock has to offer 😊

After lots of hard work and upgrading we are now open as 3 smaller self catering apartments rather than large groups- although you could book them together with friends and family as we have lots of lovely outside space to socialise (restrictions permitting).

Wahoo, our lovely local is back open 🍻

Great to be back open again even if the weather is not the greatest.
We are following the same rules as during the last opening, so we ask you wear a face covering when entering and leaving. Also if you use the toilets.
Come to the bar where we ask that you sign in on the Track and Trace app or alternatively on our Pub register.
Menus are on all tables or on line for you to order from, all drinks and food will be delivered to your table.
We look forward to seeing you very soon.
