On Mountain Rescue Awareness Day we would like to thank the amazing Mountain Rescue volunteers around the UK. We are exceptionally proud to support our local Derby Mountain Rescue Team and the incredible work they do in the local area. Nick Grayson, Chairman of Pinelodge Holidays Ltd said, “Our holiday parks welcome over 50,000 guests each year and many of these will enjoy walking and other activities in the local area and the Peak District National Park. We hope that none of our guests need to call on the Mountain Rescue Team whilst on holiday but accidents can easily happen and we wanted to be able to support the valuable work that these volunteers undertake.”

Derby Mountain Rescue Team is a group of highly skilled and dedicated volunteers. As a 24/7 emergency service, they respond to requests from the police, ambulance services and other authorities to assist with medical emergencies and search and rescue operations.

Team Liaison Officer, Paul Barlow said, “Derby Mountain Rescue Team would like to thank Pinelodge Holidays for becoming a Platinum Sponsor. It costs in the region of £40,000 a year to keep the team operational. We receive no direct financial help from the government, but are dependent on donations, bequests and fundraising events for income. Being a Platinum Sponsor and providing regular financial support to the team throughout the year is invaluable in ensuring that the team is able to continue to help those in need across our community.”

So far this year the team have been called out to 60 emergencies across the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park. Emergencies can involve searching for missing people, crag rescues, falls from height, medical emergencies and assisting people who have limb injuries. The team relies solely on the donations of the public and businesses.

We're running trains from 26th October-3rd November so why not pop down with the kids for a ride along the valley and have a go at the pumpkin treasure trail!

The nearest town to Darwin Forest Lodges is Matlock. The town is surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Derbyshire Dales and is a lovely place to visit. The town is centred around the award winning Hall Leys Park alongside the River Derwent. The skyline is dominated by dramatic hills with Riber Castle majestically watching over. There are an array of places to eat and drink around the town and the park, with the vast majority being independent businesses such as Mad Hatters featured in this reel. There are also lots of quirky and unique independent shops, especially if you take a stroll down Dale Road. Here you will find numerous antique shops, vintage boutiques and unique gift shops such as the magical Punny Dukes featured in this reel. There are also many restaurants and bars on Dale Road.
