**Breaking News**

Christmas lights switch-on update.

All events today cancelled.

All events today are now cancelled due to inclement weather. The Assembly Hall will not be open to the public.

The lights will still be switched on at 6pm. The council are not encouraging people to attend this.

Melksham News will live stream the switch on tonight with a special message from the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Anyone booked in for Santa’s Grotto, this will be rearranged for a later date. Please contact Melksham Town Council for more information.

Due to the adverse weather conditions the organisers of the Stratford Christmas Market have advised this has been postponed this weekend. We have rearranged for the 14th December with the same joining points and pick up times.

Lovely day tour to Callendar and Loch Katrine today, a tour over the Dukes Pass built for the Duke of Montrose to access his lands, this scenic drive takes you from Aberfoyle to Callendar. After a stop in Callander a cruise on Loch Katrine for the afternoon aboard Lady of the Lake. Did you know ? Loch Katrine was the inspiration for the famous 19th century poem, The Lady of the Lake, by Sir Walter Scott, and still beguiles visitors some two centuries later.

Arrived at the Rob Roy Hotel Aberfoyle after a visit to Gretna Green onroute for our Festive Turkey & Tinsel break in the Trossachs Did you know ? Gretna Green is synonymous with Anvil Weddings and it is the Famous Blacksmiths Shop where the tradition of an Anvil Wedding began. Legend has it that if you touch the famous Gretna Green anvil it brings you good fortune in affairs of the heart.

Tonight's theme was Murder at the Moulin Rouge and the fun and entertainment was enjoyed by our clients, the winning team was Steve's Sleuths so well done and the only team to work out the exact result..... Peter, Linda, Ken,.Rita, Jane, Rob, Pat & Thelma The Verdict from inspector Clueless.... It was Too Loose Letrec who killed the mime artist with a poison dart in the neck ...... Did you know ? Toulouse-Lautrec was so dependent on alcohol that he even hollowed out his walking stick so he could fill it with drink. Unfortunately his intoxicated lifestyle led to his demise, and the artist died at the age of 36 from alcoholism and syphilis.

Lovely day to Melton Mowbray today. Touring via Rutland Water and Market Harborough to complete the circular route. Thanks to Chris for driving today great to keep it in the family. Did you know ?
