Hi, we’re Mark and Sam. We moved from Hertfordshire to Saxby, near Rutland about a decade ago to lovingly restore and convert an epic 18th century church which is now our home. We believe that we are custodians of this unique property and feel so happy to share its surroundings with people who want to experience something different and special.

Church House Hut is a stunning, luxurious bespoke 18’ shepherd’s hut situated in a unique spot on the borders of Rutland, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. The vista from the front of the self-catering hut offers breath taking countryside views as far as the eye can see. From the back window, you remember that you are situated in a very special garden belonging to an 18th century church.
When you arrive, you hut's bespoke interior and exterior have been designed with stylish luxurious comfort in mind and this beautiful getaway provides everything that a romantic couple or soulful person could want for a blissful escape from the normal stresses of everyday life.
The king-size bed with a pocket-sprung mattress is complete with luxury cotton crisp white sheets and pillowcases, anti-allergy pillows plus a sumptuous duvet with a woollen throw for colder nights, although your toes will be toasty and warm throughout any season once the under-floor heating is on. The bathroom is beautifully equipped with a rain shower. Towels and hair and body lotions are also well stocked for your enjoyment. The kitchen with its lovely views is equipped with a kettle, toaster, cafetiere, two-ring gas hob, and a microwave-convection oven powerful enough to cook a Sunday roast during autumn and winter months.
During the warmer seasons, you can cook outside on the firepit - also perfect for a cosy night around the fire, toasting marshmallows against the light of the festoon solar lights. We will provide you with logs and firelighter ... And marshmallows! There is a bistro style seating area for you to eat al fresco or enjoy your coffee and toast with the morning views.
The countryside is literally on your doorstep and there are a great number of beautiful walks to choose from, varying in length and undulation.
If you choose to take the walk nearest to Church House Hut, you will not see another building for miles but you will see lots of wildlife and scenery just perfect for photography. If you like, we will help you take the direction and trail you want to explore when you come and stay.
