We're all set for leads and lures, now on to shark rigs and chum! Pippa, the cocker spaniel, will be on hand for her expert taste testing.

SEASON AHEAD! 🌊

Looking forward to a busy 2025 season with some exciting plans ahead.

We're hard at work, getting the boats and gear ready, and once the engines have had a full service, we'll be ready to get back on the water in March.

We've also been busy over recent weeks working on some exciting collaborations for this season and can't wait to share them with you soon.

Naturally, we'll be focusing on reefing and pollocking in the first part of the season, whilst we wait to hit the Porbeagles and Blues June onwards. Of course, we will continue reefing from March until the end of the season. Once again, we'll be targeting Tuna from mid August onwards, either as dedicated trips or mixed with sharking for the ultimate big game day in the deeps. 🦈🎣🐠

We'll continue to offer both full boat, individual spaces and short notice trips. With 2 boats, we're offering an increased number of trips available throughout the season. 🛥

Our diary is filling fast so if it's a few fillets for the freezer, a day of light line SPJ fun, a species hunt or a day on the sharks or tuna, we have you covered, but don't leave it too long! 📱

HELLO 2025!! 🎉

Ocean's first scrub of the year signalled the start of our annual maintenance for the boats to be ship shape with a polish, and a few upgrades ready for the exciting season ahead and what we have in store.

We're pleased to be sharing this season with our returning anglers and looking forward to meeting new faces. Our calendar is open!

WHAT A BLAST - TIME FOR A REST

Our 2024 season is now done! Sadly weather stopped play this weekend. It's been a great year, and a lot fun, where the highs have massively outnumbered the lows.

Some Highlights:
⭐️ Emma got her skippers ticket
🛥 Ocean joined the Odyssey gang
🦈 Tagged and swabbed as many sharks as possible for Pat Smith Database and NOAA Fisheries New England/Mid-Atlantic
🐟 Did battle with multiple Tuna on shark gear, in addition to our dedicated Tuna trips. It shows how many we are starting to see!
🎣 Our biggest Tuna yet and a 100% catch rate (3.5 trip average )
🦈 100+ shark trips with 1 blank over past 3 years.
🐠 Luke's first Cuckoo Wrasse

We've met some great new people, and returning ones as well, and it's been a privilege to share so many memories with you. Whether it's a giant Tuna, a first shark or a day in the sunshine on the light gear pollacking - it's been a blast to have you aboard.

Made for a busy fun day's fishing with lots of species thanks to our top crew, and Jason also had a bonus Tope on the same gear 🐟🦈.

WHALE OF A TIME 🐋
.. plus Tuna and Dolphins

Was great to escape to the Deeps yesterday to make the most of the weather window, and it didn't disappoint. The Deeps was full of activity with multiple pods of whales.

Josh and friend had a great time landing their first Tuna, 3 ranging from 250lb to 400lb. Great job! 🐟

Back out tomorrow for some offshore reefing. 🎣

PO***CK, BLUES AND A TUNA

SATURDAY:
Odyssey and Ocean lined up for the first time on the Mackerel Quay ahead of two very different days at sea. Emma took Odyssey and crew around Skolkholm and Skomer for a morning of drifting for edibles.

Around slack water, we made our way out to the Hats and Barrels where each drift saw nice Po***ck and several Scad reeled in on Silver Dreams.

As the wave height was increasing, we made our way back inshore for a final drift on the banks and time to fillet the fish.

Species: Scad, Pollack, Pouting, Coalfish, Ballan Wrasse

I/Emma was beaming from ear to ear when Odyssey and I parked up at the end of the day. Can't wait for next time! Alan Morgan

Luke and Ocean spent the day on the sharks with Grant Bath and friends, who reeled in 8 lovely blues, with several over 100lb.

SUNDAY:
Like Saturday, the conditions weren't ideal for Tuna, with little activity on the water, including dolphins, we made our way out to the shark grounds.

As normal, the blues must have smelt the coffee, every time the kettle boiled the reels screamed and the blues were as fiesty the waves! Grant, Anton and Greg were naturals bringing them to the boat. 13 sharks were brought to the boat with several safely brought on deck for swabbing and tagging.

After several nice blues, one reel just took off! Grant and Anton jumped to it. Within a few minutes, we thought, 'this can't be a blue, surely not?!' Many ideas came to mind but after 50 mins of reeling in and turning the boat, we saw the silver flash of a welcome Tuna of c250lb, caught on light sharking gear. On Tuna gear, it would have been a much easier fight, but the crew did brilliantly considering.

MONDAY:
Ocean Odyssey and Celtic Wildcat headed out together for an early day of sharking, making the most of the weather window by starting early. The crew caught 4 blues before coming in ahead of the weather rolling in.

It was a fun fish filled weekend and we look forward to seeing the crew all again.

A BUSY DAY ON THE WATER

Another 13 sharks to add to yesterday’s tally of 8. Some lovely lumps both days with multiple over the 100lb mark. Also bagged a bonus tuna of circa 250lb, bit of a scrap on blue shark gear but after a 50min fight time, it fully revived, and was sent on its way 🙂

Back out again tomorrow to see what can find…. 🦈🦈

(Better report to follow from Emma Evans who is the photographer of the team (as well as skipper) I just drive boats, find, and unhook fish 😂

Fish.Fish.Fish.Fish Luke, on Ocean had a tricky day on the Tuna on Saturday 🐟. 4 hooked up and 1 brought to the boat, whilst, Emma, on Odyssey fished the Hats and Barrels. Luke's not so great at photos so sorry, no Tuna photos this time. 🤣 We spent Sunday together on The Smalls and Hat and Barrels bagging up some Pollock. The crew did a top job of filling the toolbox with plenty returned for next time. Damian almost had a surprise c5ft Tope which came to the surface for a taste of the Pollock being reeled in and David reeled in a lovely double figure Pollock. Another busy few days out the deeps. It's the time of year when you have to grab any chance you can get. With 3 shark virgins on board we were convert them which they did in style with some lovely blues, the best going 130-140lb and another at 100-110lb. Two dropped Tuna and what was likely a nice Porgie lost at the side of boat added to the excitement and would of been the icing on the cake, but just means will try harder next time! Second day was a more relaxed affair. Sadly our quarry evaded us, with very little bird life or dolphin life. We did have a bust very close to home but by the time we had got the rods back in the water they had become shy again. We still managed another 2 blues to just over 100lb to keep Jimmy Lemon bucket list ticking over. Cant wait for the next weather to get back out there! It's been a busy season with some great catches, 2 porgies in the 350lb+ bracket (many, many other smaller ones), lost count of blues with plenty over the 100lb barrier, tuna to 540lb but still keen to get a few more before the end of the season! :D Thanks to all those who were out with us, great to have you aboard :). Super BLUE weekend: 38 blues up to 120lb, with multiple fish over a ton. Enjoyed the sight of a thresher jumping out of our slick, must have liked the fishy flapjack! 🐟 🦈 He was swimming around for about 20 mins but sadly we didn’t get a take… And.. the tuna numbers are definitely increasing. Great to see the CHaRT Cymru boats getting on the fish. Looking forward to getting some time dedicated to the awesome BFT fishing we have on our doorstep. 3 shark virgins converted, new PBs for some, lots of laughs and smiles.
