STEP BY STEP TO CUTTING THE LAWN - STEP 7 IS THE IMPORTANT ONE !!

Step 1: Check your lawn

Before you start mowing, have a look around the garden and pick up any loose pebbles or small sticks. Without doing so, you risk debris striking your mower blades, which could damage the machine and cause injury if the materials are propelled back out.
If the grass is wet, consider waiting until it's dry.

Step 2: Safety checks

If you're using a corded mower, place the cable over your shoulder to avoid cutting through it. Always make sure it's connected to an RCD (residual current device) to prevent electrocution.
Choose appropriate footwear: sandals and flip flops don't offer enough protection; steel-toe boots are the best for protecting your toes from serious injury. You might also want to wear eye protection in case stones fly up and a pair of sturdy gardening gloves.

Step 3: Cut around the edge of the lawn

Now you're ready to begin cutting. We suggest you start by cutting around the edge of your lawn, taking care not to snag any plants you might have at the side of your garden.
When you're mowing the sides of your lawn, try to avoid standing on the edge (where the grass meets your flowerbed) as this can damage the edge.

Step 4: Continue cutting in lengths

Cut up and down the full length of your lawn, overlapping the previous strip each time so you don't miss any spots.
Empty the collection box regularly or it may drop clumps of clippings on the lawn.

Step 5: Finishing touches

Finally, you can cut the edges of your lawn with long-handled shears or a grass trimmer for a neat result.

Step 6: Alternate your direction for next time

Next time, try and change the direction in which you've mown the lawn. Grass blades tend to grow in the direction they were mowed, so if you're always coming at them from the same angle you might find they end up leaning one way rather than standing upright.

Following major surgery to a spinal and neck injury I was unable to continue the hard landscaping I had been doing for the previous 30 years but have now fully recovered and been given the green light to resume lighter duties !!!

We will be shortly available to take lawn cutting bookings once we are up and running so would very much appreciate all our previous customers of this page to please keep in mind should you require a fresh lawn cut.

Despite the awful March weather, the CG team were able to install a small decking area, raised flower bed with a new lawn installed for returning customers Tina & Gary in the Two Mile Ash area of MK.

It’s been a tough few months weather wise that’s for sure which hasn’t ‘DAMPEND’ the spirit !!!

Main duties will be assisting the groundworkers with materials on projects Monday - Friday from 08.00am - 16.30pm with some weekends also available.

Complete garden transformation by the CityGroundworks team during a cold, wet and frosty December & January periods which saw the team challenged by the conditions, but I’d like to think we came out on top !!

Existing fencing, patio, boarders and beds removed, replaced with keykerb three tier steps, block flower beds, new fence lines, gate, global stone pure grey sandstone paving and circle feature creating a more durable garden area to be enjoyed for years to come.
