What gives the new Actros L the edge over other long-haulage trucks?

💨 Its aerodynamic design 💨

The new innovative cab design with a 80mm longer front end allows for a diversion of airflow with as little pull as possible, making the drive 3% more efficient than that of its predecessor.

Together with an economical 3rd generation OM 471 engine and Top Torque providing an added surge of power when needed, the new Actros L ProCabin is a driving experience not to be missed.

Just like all Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the Actros L is approved for the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) - a renewable fuel which can lead to significant reductions on carbon emissions.

HIVED expands its fleet with 11 new Mercedes-Benz eActros 🚚⚡

The leading all-electric parcel delivery company has placed an order of two eActros 400 and nine eActros 600 to grow its UK end-to-end electric delivery network.

Due to be delivered by Motus Truck & Van, the eTrucks will operate across HIVED’s nationwide middle mile network, collecting from retailer warehouses for delivery to end customers.

HIVED is the only delivery company to operate an all-electric fleet across the middle and final mile, and next year, plans to install megawatt charging stations at its hubs in West London, the Midlands and Manchester 🔋

James Venables, Head of Future Sustainability of Daimler Truck UK Limited said: “HIVED’s commitment to end-to-end, all electric delivery service is a great example of how switching to electric trucks can improve sustainability of any company, particularly in the delivery sector.

“This progressive, future-focussed company is the ideal partner for us and the eActros.”

HIVED’s Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Mathias Krieger commented: “This is a major moment for the logistics industry. In an industry where the status quo is to run a mixed fleet at best, HIVED is the first delivery company to operate an all-electric delivery network across the middle and final delivery mile. With the eActros, HIVED continues to redefine what a modern delivery company looks like with our expanded electric middle mile capacity.”

The trucks are due to be delivered later this year.

The beginning of a new month has had us delving into the archives, and this vibrant vintage workhorse is a Ramsay Ladders classic! 🚚

The ladder specialists tell us this truck is a 1617 model from the late eighties and was supplied by Mercedes Camperdown Motor Company in Dundee.

The UK’s first Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin has arrived in the country, ready to offer the next level of efficiency and comfort to UK customers.

Heralded for its innovative cab design, the new model is 3% more efficient than that of its predecessor, with an 80mm longer front end and economical third generation OM 471 engine, plus top torque technology for enhanced driving performance.

Stuart Jeggo, Sales and Marketing Director at Daimler Truck UK (pictured) commented on the exciting new arrival:

“We’re thrilled the new Actros L ProCabin is now available to our customers in the UK. This innovative cab signals a new era for the Actros models. It’s far from just a face-lift though as the aerodynamics for this futuristic truck improves fuel savings of up to three percent. The new safety systems again go beyond the requirements of the General Safety Regulation and the ergonomics and comfort for the drivers has also been made priority with this new ProCabin design.”

Every Mercedes-Benz Truck Dealer in the UK will have at least two Actros L ProCabin tractor units as demonstrators, including a 2553 ProCabin Giga model and a choice of the ProCabin Stream or ProCabin Big model.

Amazon orders over 200 eActros 600 🚚⚡The biggest e-Truck contract to date for Mercedes-Benz Trucks!

The new fleet is also the retail giant’s largest ever order of electric heavy goods vehicles, which will see more than 140 trucks deployed across the UK and 50 in Germany.

The zero emission models will be used across high-mileage routes that make up Amazon’s middle-mile network and are expected to transport more than 300 million packages in the UK every year.

To support the operation of the trucks, Amazon intends to install additional fast charging infrastructure across its key UK sites, including electric points capable of charging the trucks from 20% to 80% in just over an hour.

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited commented: “Since supplying the 7.5T Fuso eCanter in 2021, we are excited to continue to build on this electric journey with our partners at Amazon. This order of more than 140 eActros 600 for the UK signifies their understanding of the importance these trucks will have as they drive to reach their net-zero carbon emissions targets.”

Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, added: “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe. It is the biggest electric heavy truck order by Amazon to date anywhere in the world and is an important step as we work to achieve our Climate Pledge commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions across our operations by 2040.”
