Great initiative by Dunster Castle and Watermill! If you travel to Dunster by train, bus or bicycle this summer, grab a hot drink courtesy of the castle.
If you arrive by West Somerset Railway, The Buses of Somerset or by bike simply show the welcome team your ticket or bike helmet for a free ☕cuppa voucher.

Today marks 150 years since the opening of the Watchet to Minehead rail line 🚂

George Fownes Luttrell played an important role in extending this part of the railway, securing funds for the project. He hoped to make Minehead more accessible and transform it into a bustling tourist destination.

The first train went from Minehead to Taunton at 6am on 16 July 1874, carrying around 200 passengers.

The railway is now a heritage line but continues to stop in Dunster, with a scenic walk taking you to the castle.

If you travel to us by train, bus or bicycle this summer, you can have a hot drink on us ☕ Show your ticket or bicycle helmet to a member of the Welcome Team to claim your voucher.

Did you know the worlds oldest fossil forest on earth was discovered on the Somerset coast? It's location is understandably kept fairly secret, any idea where you think it might be?

Did you know that the Worlds Oldest Forest - a discovery of the oldest fossil forest on Earth has been made locally along part of the Somerset Coastline.

The location only understandably known to a few!

Oh well at least we got to see the Dunster Beach Geese and Ducks with their young doing well! 🪿🦆
Please if you want to feed them, leave the bread at home & buy the correct feed from the The Kiosk at Dunster Beach. Better for the wildlife and the water quality in the Hawn nature reserve. See the last photo below for details.
