Ben and Hugh became friends in high school and they soon realised they shared a passion for business, undercutting the tuck shop to sell sweets, crisps and drinks and earning themselves some money at the same time. Fast forward a few years and Hugh started working in a high street travel agency, progressing to management at age 21. Ben graduated from university and secured a marketing job with a travel company based in Liverpool.
The pair decided they wanted to set up their own business and the idea for Venture Travel was set in motion. They launched the business on 8 October 2017 after obtaining a full ATOL licence and securing contracts with the best suppliers in the travel industry.
In the first 3 months of launching they faced a problem common to lots of new businesses; hardly anyone one knew about their products and prices and there was no money in the pot for marketing. So they spent the next 3 months sharing the word on Instagram and Facebook, attending events and making phone calls to raise awareness about the Venture Travel brand.
Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength and Hugh and Ben attribute the success to their customer-orientated approach. The company has already won awards ( Travel Weekly’s Ones to Watch 2019 and The Global Travel Groups Best Newcomer 2018) with Ben and Hugh invited to give talks to the travel industry and universities and schools to tell their story and share their experiences.
Since launching, Venture Travel have sent over 3,000 people on their dream holiday and securing them the best price at the same time – just look at the feedback and customer reviews on Facebook.
