Our fantastic local butcher...
-LOCAL FARMING..LOCAL PRODUCE-
When we buy local, we are also able to connect to and more deeply appreciate the people who are rearing the produce that we eat. We can relate to their struggles, trials and tribulations and therefore the end product has more value.
This years lambing season has given our local farmers a lot of challenges to overcome. Snow, freezing temperatures, lots of rain and minimal sunshine has meant that the daily work load on our local farmers has increased massively.
My family at Llwynmadoc Farm, here in Abermule, spent days shuffling and re-shuffling ewes and lambs to ensure that they stayed safe and warm during the snow. Shed space comes at a premium this time of year. Ewes are usually let out into the fields with their lambs after a day or two inside to ensure they are strong enough and feeding successfully; leaving plenty of space for more lambing ewes. But with terrible conditions outside, there was no option but to keep them indoors. This added a huge work load onto their already very busy schedule.
To us, these lambs are now even more valuable. Because to survive, they required far more attention, support and time from our local farmers.
Support local at all costs! Our local farmers put an incredible amount of effort into their work and we will always pay a fair price that reflects their brilliant produce!
