Sharps Folly loop from Scots Gap is around 53 miles reaches 3,945ft This is just one of the most testing routes - there are many others that take in the beauty of Northumberland. Fabulous news for these wonderful National Trust properties. Wallington is 1 mile up the road from here so why not book a stay and then visit the house and gardens. It’s the most beautiful place to explore both inside the house and outside in the extensive grounds.

Well done to our partners at Wallington NT House, Gardens & Estate, NT Cragside, Housesteads Visitors Centre, The Vindolanda Trust (Chesterholm), Hadrian's Wall, Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens and Housesteads Roman Fort who featured in the top 10 most visited paid attractions in the North East in 2023 in the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Survey. 👏🎉

VisitEngland has published its 2023 Annual Survey of Visits to Visitor Attractions showing that while visits to attractions across England continued to recover last year, they were still significantly down on pre-pandemic levels.

However, the average percentage increase in visitors from 2022 to 2023 for attractions in the North East Region is approximately 7%. 📈

Holy Island which is accessed by this causeway .. one of the beautiful places to visit while staying. Always be sure of the tide times though!!

The end of the road.

Twice daily North Sea tides sweep across Holy Island’s 3-mile-long causeway, submerging the road and your safe passage to the island.

Always adhere to the safe crossing times listed on boards either side of the causeway before making your journey.
