Bamburgh Castle is a great day out from the Forge. If you are a The Last Kingdom fan this exhibit is a must!

Fans of the hit Netflix series The Last Kingdom will be able to get up close to costumes and props worn by actors in the sword-wielding saga in an exhibition at Bamburgh Castle – the original fortress of Bebbanburg in Northumberland.

Coquetdale Community Archaeology has permission for further work at Linbrig in Upper Coquetdale between July 6 and July 13. This year we’ll be focusing on a structure that may just be the remains of a chapel mentioned in medieval documents. If you would like to come and view the dig and find out more about Linbrig, then message us and we can plan times.

Love history? The Ad Gefren Experience will transport you to the ancient summer palace of 7th century kings and queens of Northumbria found at Wooler.

Wooler is a lovely drive from our cottage. The attraction opens in February when our rates are at their lowest.

We love to have holidays close to home and recently did a couple of legs on . The Kirk Yetholm to Wooler leg through the College Valley is stunning and can be done as a day trip from the Forge.
