Scottish Land & Estates

Scottish Land & Estates Helping rural Scotland thrive. Our members are also at the forefront of providing housing, employment, tourism & enterprise and farming opportunities.

We promote the wide range of benefits land-based businesses provide: the tourist attractions, leisure facilities and landscapes, all enjoyed by the public.

At Scottish Land & Estates, our aim is to help rural Scotland thrive.

We understand the challenges people who live and work in rural areas, and we have been focussed on how to tackle them.

That is why we have produced our Policy Prospectus, which highlights the pressing needs and priorities of the people, businesses and landscapes that underpin Scotland’s rural communities.

To build a better future for those who live and work in rural Scotland, we know that policy must be designed with rural communities in mind.

‘Rural Reset’ sets out clear, actionable steps for the government to make rural issues a priority—strengthening our communities, protecting our landscapes, and accelerating sustainable growth. A rural reset for Scotland starts here.

The Power of Partnership 🙌🐟🌳

Huge congratulations to Grosvenor's Reay Forest Estate for winning the Conservation Award at last night’s Scottish Land & Estates Helping it Happen Awards 2024 for Project Laxford – a partnership with the Atlantic Salmon Trust. We’re thrilled that this landscape-scale, ecosystem-wide approach to wild Atlantic salmon restoration has received such excellent recognition.

Project Laxford is only made possible through partnership working and a shared, positive vision for the future, as well as a great deal of hard work on the ground by the Reay Forest Estate team and our own team members, along with the support of the West Sutherland Fisheries Trust and Marine Directorate. With the combined strategic approach of landscape-scale restoration and cutting-edge environmental monitoring, it is hoped that Project Laxford will serve as an exemplar river system to inspire wider wild salmon restoration efforts in the region. Well done to all involved!
