2024 picture updates 🥰

Into year 13 for our wee Hideaway, Janette is still putting up with me and doing an amazing job as ever making sure it's spotless for every booking.

Still lots of availability but bookings are coming in so get in the diary.

We are still £135 a night, no price increase this year but still a minimum 3 night stay and sorry no pets.

No added extra charges when booked direct but as always a reminder that there will be additional charges when booking on AirBnb or TripAdvisor.

Lovely to see some familiar names booking again for 2nd, 3rd and even 4th visit.

Look forward to the coming months, any queries or to check availability have a nosey at our website or message me direct on here.

I was going to wait until the house was all super clean and shiny to update our pics but I am so excited to share the new shower room with you I couldn't wait.

What do you think?

All works carried out by the team Fraser Hepburn Joiners. I found a vinyl I loved online and a local fitter who sourced it for us and fitted. Thanks to all involved. Ah wait not forgetting Wilson Heating Ltd who managed to help us out on a very tight deadline.

Not sure who is worse, Fraser or I, when it comes to these projects.... 🤔 either way absolutely delighted by the end result.

Ooooo the things I do for our guests....

Had to go and try out this fab offer on your behalf at Cawdor Tavern and it was fab! HUGE portions and my lunch buddy and I are already planning a revisit as its her birthday in February. Would be rude not to!

Get yourself booked in for a wee Jan/Feb treat. Was lovely to have a child free girly catch up discussing the year ahead.

One of the benefits of being self employed business women/mums/wives and all that 🥰

I know we have been very quiet on here, sorry!!

This morning after dropping my daughter off at work in Nairn I decided to go for a wander on the High Street. I admit I was in a bit of a pre Christmas Grump...

Couple of hours later (if someone had told me to do that I'd have said there is not enough to do....) I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy after some really nice chats with folk.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a charity shop and Highland Hospice shops are always a great go to and today I made purchase in both their shops in Nairn and had a natter with 3 lovely ladies who were working in them.

Santa's Sleigh was on the High Street so catch up with Volunteers and Nairn Retained Firefighters out in the pouring rain raising money for good causes, Santa was on a well deserved break when I went back for pics.

A quick stop in at The Flower Shop Nairn just to nosey at gifts not thinking there would be time or stock for a nice bunch but the lovely Carol put together the most beautiful arrangement for me.

While she was getting them together I had a quick refuel at MNMS Cafe Nairn lovely coffee and scone.

By this point I was absolutely soaked and ready to head home and hadn't even made it to Vitamin Sea Nairn Gift Shop & Printing or Crafty Wee Birdie.

It's easy to forget our local High Street but this morning definitely lifted my spirits.

Hope everyone is all ready for Santa, we have 2 seriously excited little people here and the two older ones are playing it a bit more cool. It's lovely to have the 4 of them at home together again this year. 🎅 🎄

Another wee activity we did during the hols. 🐈‍⬛ 🎃

Kids aged 4, 6 and 10 all loved it. Loads of space for them to run off some energy.

So this was the big decision this morning. 🦕

A fantastic visit to The Loch Ness Centre with the kids - ages 17,10 and 6.

We are spending the holidays at home and visiting local attractions and this is definitely one to add to list of recommendations alongside the boat trip that we did last year.

Urgh.... I've been trying to word a post to send love and support to everyone trying to navigate these new rules for self catering holiday lets but it's just not happened.

We've put in our application and have our fingers crossed alongside everyone else that what we are doing is good enough to tick the required boxes.

11 years in and hoping for many more.

A first for me today, down at my son's swimming lessons in Nairn and on way to changing rooms another parent spotted and pointed out dolphins. 🐬

Having been born in Nairn up until today have always felt hard done to and miffed that I have never had the experience of seeing them from the land! 🤣

Definitely made my day.

Ahhh sorry it's been a bit quiet on here. Now at the 3 week countdown until our wedding.... eeek!!

For now here is some recent feedback from guests over the last couple of months and a reminder that we have limited availability left for June and July.
.... the sun is shining, I'm happy and excited now that it's June so for our wedding month, to share the love, direct bookings will be down to £125 a night, minimum 3 night stay - of course including the hot tub and bottle of prosecco 🥂🍾

Ping me a message to book.

As well as guests visiting to spend time exploring the area we also have guests who just want to get away from it all and once through the gate into the Hideaway may not leave again until check out!

In addition to the hot tub some recently commented on included goodies are the Sega, bottle of prosecco, nice selection of coffee and teas (good old kettle, tea pot and cafetiere if also if preferred) and the games, books and DVDs.

Over for a delivery from AO this morning, fantastic service as always, old machine disconnected and taken away, new machine connected up, all rubbish gone. Given an hour delivery time and everything was done within the first 30 mins of that window!

Wee bit of snow here today, how tempting does that tub look! Shame I have to work.

Oh and I think there is going to be a fight for the super soft and cuddly Teddy after school today!

Happy New Year!

Hope January is treating everyone well so far.

I'm looking for suggestions please.... what extras in a holiday cottage make it that little bit more special?

Things are tough for everyone right now and the increased electricity costs have of course meant unavoidable price increases that have to be passed on to our guests.

We have been awarded Superhost Status again on AirBnb but for the first time ever our ratings are slipping due to customers view on value for money and I am just trying to think of other ways we can add some other little things that 'could' help.

Folk aren't getting away as much and we appreciate everyone who books with us and I want them to love it.

I've had suggestions of going back breaking pricing down to have a basic charge for stay and then an additional charge for using the hot tub but if I was going somewhere I would much rather just have an all in price? Any thoughts?

I know of many owners who have given up their holiday lets in the last year due to either increased overheads or the whole licensing situation currently rolling out in Scotland but we are very keen and determined to keep on going.

We've been welcoming guests to the Hideaway for nearly 12 years now and planning many more 😁

A trip to the bank yesterday coincided with Inverness Farmer's Market and came home with some amazing food 😍

Cakes and lemon curd from Patisserie Alice (the cakes did not survive for a picture but the lemon meringue roulade was amazing!). The lemon curd is equally delicious.

Some bread from The Isle of Skye Baking Company - caramelised onion loaf didn't make the picture and was lunch yesterday but was determined to save the breakfast loaf for this morning 🤤

Definitely brightened up my day after a long week with a poorly household.

We had such a great day doing City Sightseeing Inverness Ltd open top bus tour followed by lunch at An Talla and then boat trip with Loch Ness by Jacobite.

We could not have picked a better day and was lovely to see so many people enjoying what's to offer in and around Inverness.

Our group ranged from age 3 to nearly 73 and even got a teenager out of the house for the day and all of us had a great time.

We are being tourists today and off on Sightseeing Bus Tour followed by Boat Trip.
