The barn at Waunlippa is a welcoming and cozy barn conversion, adjacent to our home on our quiet smallholding in the quaint hamlet of Llanmill just 2 miles from the popular boutique town of Narberth. A perfect romantic retreat for couples looking to cosy up and relax in lovely surroundings, enjoy the romantic seating areas around the grounds but just a short drive from a variety of lovely places t

o eat and the fabulous beaches of South Wales. Orsola Muscia (The Tailor Made Chef) is a professional Italian chef and able to offer high cuisine and breakfasts for guests using locally sourced produce and cookery classes are also available. The barn has an open plan living area, character features mixed with modern comfort with a well equipped kitchen, dining area and comfy seating with a beautiful wood burning stove. Outside, you can relax in the tucked away seclusion of your private courtyard and enjoy the luxurious hot tub or wander around the garden, sit a while by the stream which runs the length of the grounds or enjoy a picnic and watch the wildlife. We've always appreciated our pink, yellow and white lillies but tend to see them from the sides so I finally got round to putting my waders on to take a close up! After such a wet spring, it's been very rewarding to get the garden abit tidier and prettier and it's always slightly different every year......

Now when guests ask "Are there any fish in there?" I can now say "YES!" These guys have been here a year now to grow to this size so maybe they'll start being able to keep the weeds under control.......time will tell.

My wife and I have had three dining experiences whilst staying at Orsola and Patrick’s lovely ‘The Barn at Waunlippa’, two main meals and a lovely Afternoon Tea. If I let my wife write this review she would just tell you how wonderful the food is and what a good time we had, which it is and we did, of that there is no doubt. My wife loves great food and when we can for anniversaries and the like we try out a Michelin star restaurant if we can. It’s a rare treat and more for my wife than me but we’ve had some wonderful meals .
I wanted to give this review from a different point of view, the man who tags along to please his wife 🤣, I’m pretty much a roast beef and Yorkshire pud kind of guy, burger and chips too so it’s my greatest of pleasures to sing the praises when someone’s efforts and quality of attention amaze and impress. The preparation process behind Orsola’s meals are an event themselves, we had discussions over likes and dislikes and my lack of adventure when it comes to food and Orsola adapted and created menus to take this on board whilst her knowledge and abilities knew just where to push me along a little whilst amazing my wife, to challenge my preconceptions and open up new foods to me.
Every course, even the afternoon cakes and tea were an experience to savour and the effort in preparation and thought brings with it a wonderful experience , great food and new tastes that you desperately want to tell others about. It’s THAT good.
I will ask my wife for some pictures to add in due course but for now all I can say is say YES, you get far more than you pay for and especially if you stay at the Barn, service to your own table. It really is too good to miss and it’s a shame we live hundreds of miles away or we would be eating a lot more of Orsola’s wonderful food.
