Wreck diving combines historical interest with some fascinating marine life that has occupied them over the years 🐠 🐢

“The diving in Malta is incredible, hundreds of dive sites to choose from, I dived three new wrecks I haven’t dived before as well as some local reefs as well, always something to see and a great way to see the island.

The Sands Apartments are comfortable and practical, only two minutes’ walk from the dive centre with a built-in kit wash and dive room, also only 20 minutes walk to town centre, very handy place to stay.

From start to finish no hassle, had all the information of my trip on email so knew everything from flight times to what’s included and what’s not included. This makes the holiday stress-free with no surprises!”

Harvey recently returned from his tailor-made dive trip to Raja Ampat, where he also arranged his own volcano tour! He managed to capture some fantastic drone footage of the volcano, and had this feedback to share of his epic journey...

"Very good diving at Raja Ampat. I managed to do 36 dives and got photos of all four species of Pygmy seahorse. Dokono [volcano] in particular was SPECTACULAR, very active. Chucking red-hot bombs in quantity, huge high-speed ash plume, extraordinary roar. We saw from camp one major explosion with bombs falling outside the rim. But where on the rim they fall, and when bigger explosions occur, is pretty predictable. We did a couple more quieter ones, Lokon and Soputan, the latter involving a hike and a night camping. Thanks, I will be in touch about the next epic."

Happy World Turtle Day! 🐢🎉

Join us as we 'shell-a-brate' these amazing creatures with some fun facts. Did you know that turtles are evolutionarily older than crocodiles? Their family tree dates back to approximately 200 million years ago! Individually, they can also be very long-lived, with the oldest recorded turtle, Tu”i Malila of Tonga Island, living to an astonishing 188 years old.

Today, there are more than 350 species of turtle, tortoise and terrapin currently existing on every continent except Antarctica. Of these, there are seven species of sea turtle: the flatback, hawksbill, leatherback, loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, olive ridley and green.

Many sea turtle species perform key ecosystem services, maintaining the health of seagrass and coral reef environments by grazing and predation. Six of the seven sea turtle species are classified as endangered or critically endangered, threatened by poaching, habitat loss, climate change, pollution and the pet trade. Thankfully, there are many global education and conservation initiatives working to protect these iconic and charismatic species and their habitats.

Did you know that the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park was expanded last year? 💡

Listed by National Geographic as one of the 25 Wonders of the World, the original 75 sculptures created by Jason deCaires Taylor cover an area of more than 800 square meters in the Molinere Beauséjour Marine Protected Area, Grenada. The 2023 extension added another 27 sculptures, a collection of works called 'The Coral Carnival', in addition to new versions of both 'The Lost Correspondent' and 'Unstill Life'.

Accessibly located at depths ranging from 5-8 meters, this wonderful site can be viewed by divers and snorkellers alike, with departure points conveniently located at both St. Georges and Grand Anse. Our annual group trip to Saint Helena, Africa, recently wrapped up on a fantastic 12 days of diving, with tour leader Danny Copeland having a lovely summary to share! 🌊

“Saint Helena continues to be one of my favourite diving destinations. Many folks are initially interested when I tell them about the whale sharks that come here. With few operators, strict limits on numbers in the water, and the most naturally curious whale sharks you’ll ever meet, I truly believe this is THE place to have that dream encounter with the world’s largest fish.

But Saint Helena offers so much more than just the whale sharks. It has several impressive wrecks at variable depths. It has an underwater topography that at times feels like you’re an eagle swimming along an underwater cliff face. Every site boasts huge schools of sizeable reef fish, amongst which are several flamboyant species that you’ll see nowhere else. Sickle-fin devil rays make a few cameos each trip, alongside surface intervals with huge pods of dolphins leaping behind the boat.

That’s just what’s on offer at sea! The island itself boasts so many jaw-dropping vistas for those fancying some hikes. It crams so much cultural intrigue into such a small rock (not just Napoleon!), alongside a charmingly belligerent giant tortoise that is himself a part of nearly two centuries of history.
