A beautiful sunrise this morning….

Monday’s marine mammal survey was another great day at sea for our research team.

We spotted 👀 Sue, a bottlenose dolphin that has been observed in Cardigan Bay for over four decades.

We also had a sighting of common dolphins foraging among seabirds. 🐧🌊

An unexpected appearance by the SAGA cruise ship Spirit of Discovery added a unique twist to our day. 🚢

😢 Unfortunately we also picked up two helium balloons out of the sea, we seem to come across more of these each year.

Sightings of bottlenose dolphins like Sue highlight the importance of our long term research and conservation efforts. 🌊🐬

Unusual sighting in Cardigan Bay!

Not the most dramatic video, but very exciting for me. The larger animal that comes towards the boat at the end of the video is an animal I have known since 1987. She is named ‘Sue’ in the CBMWC catalogue and it’s always great to see she has survived another year!

Common dolphins on our marine mammal survey with a research team from Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre (CBMWC) today.
At least three very small calves in this group.

Not an unusual sighting but also not a species regularly seen.
