We are a family run business with almost 70 years of experience. We operate from April to October and our Dreamcatcher boat is also often available to book before 1st of April. We have purpose-built passenger boa
ts licensed and inspected by the Maritime Coastguard Agency which will take you safely out to sea. Your trip will be entirely within the Cardigan Bay 'Special Area of Conservation' departing from the historic pier at New-Quay. Our company has been a SeaWatch Foundation recommended boat operator in New Quay for over fifteen years. The main attraction is one which we cannot guarantee but that adds to the experience when they appear, we pause at seal haul-out areas and bird colonies where you can see a number of coastal species depending on time of year. Bottlenose dolphins frequent the bay in great numbers between April and October, Wildlife is protected in Cardigan Bay so we aim to give you the best encounters with our wildlife without causing them any disturbance. Our wildlife guides will give you loads of amazing information about dolphins, seals, birds etc. Our boats are available for private charter like birthday, hen party, and also film and media charter available. In 2024 we introduce 'Suncatcher' the first dolphin spotting boat in west Wales with an upper deck, she has unrivalled views plus and indoor area offering hot and cold snacks. NOVEMBER WILDLIFE π
We honestly cannot believe how mild the weather has been.
It's November and we are still having the weather and sea conditions we have hoped for all year! ππ
We had amazing close-up encounters on some of our trips today with some very playful Dolphins and so many Sea Birds with bait balls everywhere.
Gannets galore which made Chloe & Sarah very happy indeed!
Check out the photos where we spotted a baby Gannet, a 'teenage' Gannet and Adult!
*DID YOU KNOW
A baby Gannet is called a GUGA! π€£ππΌ
We love this name for them!
Topping it off with a beautiful sunset.
Looking at the sunset picture can you believe that's taken in November?!
You could mistake that for a summer's eve!

Decided to pop out for a trip on the Dreamcatcher this morning and was lucky enough to have plenty of dolphins in the bay. Managed to capture a few of the breaches that we witnessed. Nice and calm waters with no rain.

Anybody that has read the Times Newspaper yesterday may have seen a familiar photo π
Our Wildlife guide & photographer Sarah Michelle Wyer managed to get one of her photos from this past month printed in the Newspaper!
Sarah knows she's very lucky to capture special moments from the boats and able to pursue her passion for photography.
β οΈ Did we ever mention Sarah sells her photos?
She makes greetings cards and photo prints of her Wildlife photos she takes on board with us.
& believe it or not... She does also take photos of other things besides Dolphins π±π±π±π
Follow 'Sarah Michelle Photography' on Facebook or follow her profile.
Drop her a message if you'd like to know more or be interested in something she sells.
She's very friendly and likes to talk a lot π€π
(Also... CHRISTMAS IS COMING πππ π)
This October we have had such amazing weather and calm seas for our boat trips.
Reiterating text from our previous post... But it really has been the weather we were desperate for through the spring & summer months π
The wildlife... Just wow. So many Dolphins around but ALSO.... So many Seals too! We hit record numbers at our little Seal's Bay area of 23 seals! ... That's a lot for us!
Lots of feeding activity from birds, we had a brief glimpse of a Thresher Shark earlier in the week ...
Overall October has been very kind to us and it's not actually 'that' cold yet either.
Since the weather and wildlife had been so great we are operating trips into next week!
Because we never want boat season to end π
We will have limited trips available on Suncatcher tomorrow & Dreamcatcher for the rest of the week.

Close encounters of the 'flippered' kind! π¬
We are often asked whether the Dolphins swim up to the boats or 'get close' to us...
Hopefully these photos answer these questions! π
Yes, they do!
Dolphins are very inquisitive and playful animals and sometimes they do choose to approach the boats.
We are proud to adhere to the SAC Marine Code of Conduct and also have completed the WISE scheme whereby we do not impede or approach the animals immediately when we first spot them.
We give them space to do whatever it is they want to do!
This patience and respect often pays off and as we can see here... This Dolphin chose to approach us, keep a close eye on us ποΈ and give passengers and crew Sarah a splashing time right next to the boat! π¦ππ¬
These photos were taken by wildlife guide & photographer Sarah Michelle Wyer on board Suncatcher's 1.5 hour trip this morning. A great time had by all!

WOW! ππ¬
Another great day for Dolphins!
Check out this breach sequence of an adult and juvenile clearly showing the size difference between the two!

It's like the Dolphins know it's coming to the end of boat season πππ

ππ¦ SPOOKTACULAR DOLPHINS ππ¦
Well yesterday brought the last trips of the season for our beloved Ermol VI β€οΈ
We couldn't have asked for a better day for Dolphins to end the Ermol's season on!
We had a large pod of Dolphins visit the bay with lots of playful youngsters which gave us all the most wonderful displays and very close up encounters on all boats.
Calm waters and great visibility so perfect for wildlife spotting & Sarah managed to catch a very quick glimpse of the elusive Thresher Shark at the reef! (the tail end of it). Unfortunately no pictures of the Shark but great to know it seems to be hanging around π€πΌ
We are also seeing so many Grey Seals at Seal's Bay counting 15 yesterday which is the most we have seen all season!
So it just goes to show, wildlife this time of year is absolutely spectacular!
Here are some of Wildlife guide & photographer Sarah Michelle Wyer's favourite photographs from yesterday Taken on board Suncatcher.
Safe to say, with the day we had for Dolphins she took quite a few and had to narrow them down!
We hope you enjoy them π¬π
& Hope everybody had a Happy Halloween! π

We are having the weather we wished for back in August... BUT better late then never of course.
Sunshine, flat calm waters and SO many Dolphins! Passengers on all boats were treated to multiple Dolphin encounters throughout the day today with lots of calves present too.
A great day!

FIN-tastic day for Dolphins! π¬
Despite the choppy conditions, passengers on all our boats were treated to multiple encounters with one of our local maternity pods π₯° which meant of course... Baby Dolphins!
We have spotted three newborns now this season within New Quay Bay which is AWESOME!
Photos taken by wildlife guide Sarah Michelle Wyer on board the ERMOL VI one hour trips.
Suncatcher having a nice up-close and personal encounter with some grey faces!
A couple face shots of two out of the three Newborn Dolphins
and a very obliging European S**g who popped up alongside the boat for a few photos!
A great day out on the water... Dont let the waves put you off... The Dolphins love them & as we can see here, you can absolutely still spot Dolphins in choppier seas! π
