I am now back at my desk having got back from 3 weeks in Thailand yesterday evening, and I'm already dreaming of my next memory making trip!
January is a very busy month in travel with people needing something exciting to look forward to with Christmas over and winter still with us for several months.
In previous years in January we have seen Dubai, Florida, The Canaries, cruise bookings in general, and Lapland leading the way.
We also saw emerging destinations last year such as Sri Lanka, Japan, Vietnam and Canada, and those trends continued through the rest 2024.
It will be interesting to see what is topping the bill for January 2025.

First impressions are everything!
We rarely change our mind from initial experiences and, as with most things in life, it's the little details which are always the most impactful.
Little details which cost little (if anything!)
Little details like:
• Someone greeting you literally as you step off the boat!
• Being welcomed by name immediately on arrival at your accommodation
• Choice of any drink as your arrival treat (I chose a Mai Tai!)
• Walking into your room and getting that "wow" feeling! …. lovely smells … relaxing music … all the little touches taken care of
• Having a WhatsApp direct chat with someone to help you throughout your stay
• Creating a calm, relaxed, upbeat atmosphere everywhere you go…
• Smiles and genuinely happy faces from everyone working at the hotel!
It's my first time on Koh Yao Yai, it won't be my last!

1. Always get in the sea as soon as possible!

Very much a flying visit, but even in 24hrs Paris leaves its mark!
Far too much to see and do fit it all in. Soaking up the atmosphere in the bars and restaurants of the 3rd arrondissement and sunset beers along Saint Martin canal were very memorable...

As promised here's a quick vid on my incredible honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
We were still travelling so we had a week in a wonderful hotel near Galle, and then got the rucksacks back on and hit the trail in an island that just steals your heart.
The history, food, smiling people, and exotic wildlife creates an atmosphere that you will never forget.
All the famous sites deserve their reputation, but one that will always stay with me is the small town of Haputale high in the mountains, with clouds framing each view, and a spectacular train ride to get there…just stunning.
