"Move over Cornwall, the Isle of Wight is officially the hottest destination for a summer holiday to travel to sans-passport. And no, we're not just talking about heading to the annual festival. Located off the south coast of England, it's surprisingly easy to reach from the mainland via a train journey (two hours from London to Portsmouth) and a 45-minute ferry ride.🏝☀️

"UK staycations have really peaked in the past few years. Just because you can go abroad doesn't mean you have to. Especially when you take into account the numerous benefits of holidaying closer to home, from reducing your carbon footprint to bringing along furry friends.🐶

"With its own micro-climate, sandy beaches and breathtaking coastal views paired with quintessentially picturesque British towns, you get a little bit of everything. And while there's plenty to keep you busy for a week's sojourn, a weekend visit is also a realistic option as it takes only an hour to drive from one end of the Island to the other."🤩

"The little Island off the south coast of England might not seem like the most obvious place for a motorcycle adventure, but it actually has a pretty long history of motorcycling goodness, and there are some cracking coastal roads to explore, too.🏍

"While the Isle of Man gets the headlines, for obvious reasons, the Isle of Wight is a surprisingly well-appointed destination for bikers. For a little more than £60, you can snag yourself a return ferry ticket from Portsmouth or Lymington and treat yourself to an Island adventure. And you’ll be there in under an hour.⛴

"It’s only small, with just 150 square miles to explore, but with 57 miles of coastline, around 500 miles of road, some phenomenal scenery, cracking beaches, bags of quaint towns and villages (with some top pubs to nestle in at the end of the day), and a good chance of blue skies, there’s plenty to keep you going for days on end."🏝

CONFIRMED! The Isle of Wight is the sunniest location in the UK (although maybe not right now...😅)!☀️

Thank you to Simon Calder for this write up of Shanklin and the Isle of Wight in The Independent📰

"An analysis of Met Office data for three decades reveals the Isle of Wight as the only part of the UK to enjoy an average of over five hours of sunshine per day, at 5h08m.🌞

"The Island resort of Shanklin is the brightest location of all. The town was popular in the 19th century, with Dickens, Keats and Longfellow spending time there."🌿

INCREDIBLE!😍

How amazing is this photo of National Trust Isle of Wight's The Needles: Landmark Attraction taken by local photographer Island Visions Photography!🤩🌈

💬 "I have been wanting to capture this image for many years but the conditions never quite came together, but last night (evening) I could see a large shower looming in the distance towards Salisbury that was moving this way, so I made the decision to head to The Needles in the hope I would be able to not only capture a rainbow timelapse, but also a rainbow over The Needles, and in the end I managed both."👏
