Some recent gigs that the Special Events & Rail team here at CityTransport have supported. Last weekend Silverstone, tonight Becky Hill, and the third picture is Bryan Adams last month.

If you hold a PCV licence and would be interested on some occasional weekend work with then please do get in contact.

A couple of points before you do though:
-work is occasional and not guaranteed
-the yard is Birtley DH3 and if you don't know where that is, please wait until our 2025 expansion has occurred and we have something nearer to you.
-our work probably won't fit alongside another vocational driving job
-we only seek the best people; there are other operators for those of you who have regular crashes or who can't deal effectively with the public or with our clients
-people with expired medicals or DQC are very welcome; your experience and interest is valued here
-you need to be able to rock a shirt/blouse and tie/cravat without looking like a fish out of water
-we normally look for two years PCV driving experience although this can flex; proficiency with at least a 12metre rigid saloon vehicle is a pre-requisite
-not every day is in the VIP area at a gig; if Middlesbrough railway station has a VIP lounge we haven't found it yet.

Forever known as the model train (to those of us of a certain age, anyway), 156443 of our client Northern passes the window of the new CTG office.

(This was the unit that Lima encapsulated in provincial livery, with I think 156501 in Strathclyde). Staying with models, the BTMRS - Blyth & Tyne Model Railway Society have a model railway exhibition in North Shields 15th/16th June; if you look hard it may just be possible to see a CityTransport bus on one of the layouts. Their link in the comments.

Travel Information for this morning - railway engineering works mean that Tyne and Wear Metro and Northern trains are replaced by buses - Hartlepool to Newcastle and South Hylton to Pelaw respectively.

Yellow line metro services are running from Heworth into the Toon.

Successful route-learning / risk assessing trip yesterday afternoon in preparation for the blockade tomorrow until Friday between Hexham and Carlisle. Some low trees encountered though in various places away from the A69.

Ourselves along with other bus operators will be providing the service on behalf of our rail industry client.

City Transport would like to hear from people who might like to discuss joining our occasional/freelance Rail Replacement and Special Events team, based out of our depot in the Gateshead area.

This occasional work is completely flexible with no minimum commitment. We undertake rail replacement work and special events transport across the North of England and beyond.

We seek people who hold (or have held) a PCV licence and have an interest in transport. Expired medicals and CPC can be discussed. Persons who have other work/business interests would be especially welcome. Our immaculately presented fleet includes wheelchair accessible coaches, and smart Mercedes and MAN buses. We also have a Hong Kong Leyland Olympian which sees occasional special event use.

Full training and leading rates/terms are provided. Any hotel accommodation needed prior to driving would be midscale and single occupancy. Please email [email protected] in confidence.

We hope to be able to offer a rescheduled enthusiast trip on this vehicle very soon - potentially a short notice weekday evening.

Disaster has sadly struck. Tomorrow's Olympian tour will not feature the Olympian. Everyone who has booked will receive a full refund on Monday.

The olympian has a suspected gearbox issue, which has manifested itself on a test run this evening.

There will be a re-run of the Olympian trip on a future date. This was totally unexpected and comes after spending a not insignificant amount of money to recommission this vehicle back to life.

To offer some kind of token compensation to those who booked tickets and may have already arranged travel and such, we will appear at Heworth at 11:15 with our Volvo B7TL and any ticket holders who wish to have a little running day will be warmly welcomed on board for a substitute trip.

Subject to the progress of tonight's recovery (and workshop status tomorrow lunchtime) it _may_ be possible to view 386 but this would be subject to conversations tomorrow.

We are so sorry about this.

Happy 2024 everyone.

2023 has indeed been a remarkable year for City Transport, marked by substantial growth and fortified relationships within our rail replacement portfolio. We've cultivated valued connections with clients who recognise and appreciate our unwavering commitment to excellence.

Expanding our private hire services in both Tyneside and Yorkshire has been a key focus, with potential plans for further expansion into a third geographic location in 2024.

In the upcoming month, we eagerly anticipate the launch of a new tri-axle coach tailored for a specific client need, responding to external factors. Additionally, a new saloon will join our rail replacement fleet, bolstering our capabilities.

Maintaining our membership with the Confederation of Passenger Transport, along with our board members holding Chartered or Fellowship with The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, are facets we proudly celebrate.

The imminent franchise framework from our client, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, represents significant growth potential, and we eagerly await the opportunities it presents.

During a time of community need, our C4 service played a pivotal role in providing reliable transport links. Whether ensuring essential workers could commute seamlessly or assisting residents with vital travel needs, the C4 service stood as a pillar of support. We are grateful to Nexus for their procedural support. We take immense pride in contributing to the well-being of the Washington community during challenging times and will continue to prioritise our role as a responsible and caring transport partner in the areas we serve.

The Twixtmas week marked the return to active service of our DAF Van Hool wheelchair accessible PSVAR coach, reinstating our capacity to offer two accessible coaches to clients.

Launching a program of day trips has been an exciting venture, with plans for further development into 2024.
