Great idea to build a home board in the garage over the Christmas holiday before William Chamberlain was born in the January of 1995. Didn't however anticipate how little time it would take him to get stronger than me...heyho!!

November is usually a quieter month for ATNE as we often fly out to Spain to climb or walk. This year we took a week off, but we're restricted with travelling due to family commitments. Still managed plenty of work though: Site Specific climbing wall training and re assessment for The Pods, Scunthorpe, Petchey Academy, Hackney and Kenton School, Newcastle. Another CWI training course and a CWI assessment course added interest. Our monthly Outdoor and Forest Scool First Aid course adds variety and a chance to catch up with familiar faces. At this time of year I am always busy with GCSE PE climbing programmes. Jesmond Park Academy (×2 groups); King's Priory, Tynemouth; St John's, Spennymoor and St Thomas More, North Shields students have all been highly entertaining, enthusiastic and highly committed to their own progress. Happy days! Oh, nearly forgot...had a birthday too and a mini break in Otterburn.

ATNE have been super busy again in October 2024. I have completed climbing wall Site Specific Sign-off training and assessment courses for Jarrow School, Framwellgate School, Mortimer Community College (South Shields) and Whitley Bay Scouts. Successful GCSE PE climbing programmes have been provided for St Thomas More (North Shields); St John's (Spennymoor); Whitley Bay HS, and Sacred Heart RCHS (Newcastle). Special thanks to Dizzy, Isla and Georgia for working with me (never easy!) and Sunderland Wall and Simonside Wall for hosting.I have been over to the Lakes to deliver a Mountain Skills course. We have had 2x Gold DofE Expeditions with St Cuthberts (Newcastle), everyone successfully completed their Qualifying Expedition and a random group of girls loosely associated with Dame Allan's Schools (Newcastle) finished their Training Expedition. Fantastic days out! Each month I support Caroline with an Outdoor First Aid / Forest School First Aid / Paediatric First Aid course. I assess, add the odd comment, upset the flow and generally annoy both Caroline and the candidates! We even got to see the Aurora this month in Forest Hall. Happy days!

It has certainly been a busy month. I have been delivering Site Specfic training and assessment courses for Newcastle College; Cardinal Newman College, Preston; RGS Newcastle; Calderdale College, Halifax; Hitchin Scouts; St Dominics Priory School, Stone. Lots of dashing about between running Climbing Wall Instructor training and assessment courses and an Indoor Climbing Assistant course for Mountain Training in the North East. We had a great week in the Lakes with Gold DofE Teams. We have delivered on Outdoor First Aid course, and I am just off to start my first GCSE PE Climbing course....happy days! A busy 3 weeks!

Super week in the Lakes with an outstanding group of young people from Jesmond Park Academy on Gold DofE Qualifying Expedition. Talented, enthusiastic, supportive and great company. Even the mixed weather failed to dampen spirits. A lovely start to the year. Thank you.

Andalucia 2024. Well, I have finished my walk. 420km with nearly 17,000m of ascent from Maro Playa to Bolonia along the Coast to Coast route, GR249, GR7 and GR12. A cracking journey through brilliant terrain. Loved the walk, the food and the villages. Didn't see anyone walking on most days. My pre-season warm weather (most days) training is complete and I can look forward to a busy summer of work. Fully booked until September. Happy days!

Andalucia 2024. Week 2 on my Coast to Coast walk.....Warm weather pre-season training and Staff Development programme. Up to about 300km done. Weather more mixed this week, hot sun, cloudy, very cold and today, very wet. Fantastic walk, loving the mountains. Great food at night. No one about during the day. Having a great time!

Andalucia 2024.
Pre-season warm weather training / staff development trip. I have spent this week walking 140km from Maro Playa (on the Med Coast near Nerja) to Villanueva de Cauche on the Andalucian Coast to Coast walk...sometimes on the GR249 and GR7 too. Trying to build fitness, developing skills, and having fun before a fully booked summer of work ahead. The walk has been fantastic so far. C. 20km per day with 800m of ascent. Weather fantastic as I journey between Pueblos Blancos. Food excellent. Spanish improving. Having a cracking time but missing Caroline. Legs and lungs getting back to top form after my busiest winter ever of climbing wall based work. Happy days!
