Evening Downpatrick Artisan Market next Friday 28 June from 5pm 😄

As part of the annual Downpatrick Down Time Summerfest festival, we are hosting a special twilight artisan 🧑‍🎨 market in Down County Museum on Friday next 28th June 2024 👏😎

In addition to the wonderful food and craft producers there will be live music from local band Evazion 🎸🎤🎶, bar facilities 🍺tea/coffee ☕️ and BBQ stall 🧑‍🎨🍔

The market will trade from 5.00pm to 9.00pm 🕰️ - plenty happening at the festival and everyone is welcome 🤗

Take a trip to Taggart Island (off Killyleagh) or Salt Island (off Delamont) and safely rest without disturbing wildlife. Remember to pack the sunscreen if visiting this weekend 😀

What’s more idyllic than gliding along the lough in a kayak, canoe or paddleboard on a beautiful summers day? Not much that we can think of.

Many islands in the lough are important bird colonies or are used by ground nesting birds and pupping seals which must not be disturbed. This summer we’re advising anyone thinking about enjoying water activities on the Lough to keep nature in mind too, so here’s a quick guide.

Islands you can safely rest on without disturbing wildlife:
✔️Chapel Island off Greyabbey Bay,
✔️Daragh Island off Whiterock,
✔️Taggart Island off Killyleagh,
✔️Salt Island off Delamont
✔️Horse Island south from Kircubbin

Please note the above islands may have grazing cattle and sheep so please do not bring dogs onto islands.

📰 Warrenpoint and Kilkeel Libraries Present Celebrating 200 Years of Haulbowline Lighthouse Photo Exhibition 📰

Warrenpoint and Kilkeel Libraries are pleased to host the ‘Celebrating 200 Years of Haulbowline Lighthouse Photo Exhibition.’ This special exhibition will showcase a collection of photographs featuring the iconic Haulbowline Lighthouse, the scenic Carlingford Lough area, and the historic Newry Canal.

The exhibition will be displayed in Warrenpoint Library from Thursday 20 June to Saturday 29 June, and then in Kilkeel Library from Saturday 3 July to Tuesday 9 July. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the rich history of the lighthouse and the surrounding area through a series of photographs and accompanying information.
